Moderate the comments instead of closing the thread

Hello, why do threads seem to get closed if a comment breaks the rules? Shouldn’t the comment be moderated instead?

the forum mods are ISDs. They are unpaid members of the community donating their time.
moderating a forum thread can involve a lot of effort reading back through the posts to figure out where it went off the rails and how best to “fix” it.
simply closing it is a lot easier and requires them to only identify a breach of the forum rules and then act.
in any case, a lot of your thread get locked because folk get exasperated with you when you refuse to listen or consider anyone elses viewpoint as remotely valid.

Not sure why you bring me up. But i seem to consider everyones viewpoints?

no. you don’t.
you refuse to listen to the opinions and viewpoints of others. often, you’ll dismiss the input of experienced players out of hand and continue to repeat the debunked bunkum you’re trying to peddle.

You seem to be conflating being ignored with being disagreed with

thank you for neatly proving my point.

Its kind of dishonest to claim you are being ignored when someone considers your viewpoint but disgrees. But it also comes across as entitlement to think you should be agreed with by someone?

it’s exceptionally dishonest to ignore the points i’ve made in my initial response and attempt to derail the discussion into a “oh poor me, you are so entitled” pile of drivel.
i addressed your initial post, you have ignored the points made and spun off onto a tangent claiming purity and innocence.
again, thank you for proving my point so neatly.

You dont listen to other peoples viewpoints

Discussing Forum Moderation is against the Forum Rules… If you have an issue with moderation then submit a support ticket.

End of story.

I think you are not allowed to discuss a specific case of moderation but this forum category is fine to make suggestions regarding for example rules and overall approach to moderation i think

once again, you prove my point.
when you find yourself in a hole, perhaps you should stop digging?

You are guilty of the things you accuse others of. For example can you recite the viewpoints i put forward in this thread?

why do i need to? they’re all listed out in your own words.

If you cant recite the viewpoints i put forward then you didnt listen and thats ok i guess

once again you’re attempting, rather clumsily, to derail the thread.
your views are expressed in your words. why should I attempt to summarise them?
and again, you continue to keep proving my point over and over: you do not listen, you summarily ignore others and dismiss the points they make out of hand.
for example: i pointed out that ISDs are unpaid volunteers. It’s far easier for them to simply lock a thread that’s strayed out of bounds.
You have not addressed that point once. Nor have you even acknowledged the point has been made. Elathy Maricadie has pointed out that discussion of forum moderation is against forum rules. You have not addressed or acknowledged that at all.
Again and again, you prove my point about your general forum behaviour.

You are not entitled to having your points adressed. And you seem to make several ones on each post and throw in some attitude as well. I can see if people ignore you.

just keep on proving my point.
it’s actually mildly amusing.

Moderators should probably remove comments that attempt to derail a thread or just close it because that’s easier?

see my initial post, which you have ignored beyond feeling personally attacked.
and well done, for once again proving my points about your general behavior on the forums.
