Modular FOBs/Day Tripping Setup

Recently CCP Lebrowski talked about a mechanic that CCP has been working on called mooring. Little information has been given at the time but it gives the impression of essentially anchoring a ship at a station so that it can’t be bumped. The idea he mentions specifically is for capital ships or supers that are to large to dock. This is similar to how people would safe log in a POS, and their ship would disappear instead of warping to a safe spot. This “Mooring” mechanic could potentially be used for mooring a ship that isn’t being flown, and allowing only the user, or those with permissions (ie fleet members or corp mates) to hop into the ship to fly it.

To simplify phasing the last of POS functionality, taking the rapid deployment of a POS and reducing it to deployable structures would keep from new stations from having to being fully fleshed out, as deployable structures normally have 1-2 functions. By using the mooring mechanic (with the little information given and a little imagination) ships could be moored/anchored in space within proper proximity to a given structure. With the ideas below, since they are mobile structures and not stations, the lack of docking would be acceptable due to the lack of them being stations. Being they’re mobile structures, they can be attack in HS without being concorded.

Here are 3 Mobile Structure ideas to replace the last of POS functionality in regards to FOBs and Day Tripping:
Mobile Fleet Hangar (MFH)- 3 levels
-30km3/60km3/120km3 Capacity
-180s Anchor Time Across the Boar
-150m3/300m3/600m3 When Packaged
-2 Day Decay unless moored
-No Reinforcement
-Can be set for fleet and Corp use
-5k Shields- 0 resists
-5k Armor- 0 resists
-5k Structure- 0 resists
-Radar Sensor- 50/100/200
Gravimetric Sensor- 50/100/200
-Magnetometric Sensor- 50/100/200
-Ladar Sensor- 50/100/200
-Must be 3km from another MFH, 50km from stargates, stations and upwell structures, and 40km from starbases

Portable Mooring Anchor (PMA)
-300s Anchor Time Across the Board
-100m3 when Packaged
-14 Day Decay
-Allows mooring within 6km for mobile structures
-No Tethering
-12 Hour Reinforcement once shields reach 25%
-Can be set for fleet and Corp use
-2.5k Shields- 0 resists
-2.5k Armor- 0 resists
-2.5k Structure- 0 resists
-Radar Sensor- 100
Gravimetric Sensor- 100
-Magnetometric Sensor- 100
-Ladar Sensor- 100
-Must be 50km from another PMA, 50km from stargates, stations and upwell structures, and 40km from starbases

POS Shield/Tether Anchor- (I’d prefer a POS-Esque Shield rather than a tether mechanic so that the range is easily visible from all directions, I also like the look of the guts of a POS being visible through its shields)
-300s Anchor Time Across the Board
-150m3/200m3/200m3 When Packaged
-2 Day Decay Unless Moored
-1km/2km/3km POS Shield/Tether Range
-Allows mooring within 3km for ships
-No Reinforcement
-Can be set for fleet and Corp use
-3.5k Shields- 0 resists
-2k Armor- 0 resists
-2k Structure- 0 resists
-Radar Sensor- 50/100/150
-Gravimetric Sensor- 50/100/150
-Magnetometric Sensor- 50/100/150
-Ladar Sensor- 50/100/150
-Must be 50km from another POS Shield/Tether Anchor, 50km from stargates, stations and upwell structures, and 40km from starbases

In an ideal setup for an day tripper is to have a Portable Mooring Anchor (PMA) anchored with a Mobile Fleet Hangar (MFH) moored and with a couple of ships (scanning ceptor, cov ops scanner, ect.) in it, a moored secure container for loot, and a POS Shield/Tether Anchor also moored and would offer a place for ships of BC/BS/Cap size to be moored for additional PVE/PVP activities.

A set up for an FOB could be a PMA anchored with a moored MFH with multiple packaged ships of BC/BS sizes, a moored secure container with modules, and a POS Shield/Tether Anchor with multiple Fleet read ships of tackle, DPS, Logi, and Ewar all fitted and moored for the upcoming operation. This would offer the attacking group a place to base out of while working to get some type of upwell structure in system to better operate from, compared to the initial wave setting up a temporary POS to operate from.

The POS-type shield is going away. There are too many issues with it technically.

Yeah, I enjoyed the shields more than the tether, but it might just be more so due to the visual of it maybe
