I would like to control the game more with keyboard controls. This is mostly about lists in windows like the Market or the Overview for me. I’d like to navigate them with the arrow keys like you would do in most other list based UIs.
Actually I think the feature is very obvious for eve online so there is probably a reason why this does not exist. For me personally it is important to reduce mouse use when possible to control wrist strain issues. But I think there are many good reasons for more keyboard control for a very window based game.
So lets hear why this hasn’t been tackled. I’m pretty sure I am not the first to ask this question.

Given that I cannot look at your personal set up, computer, keyboard, and screen, all I can say is my Jita market alt is set up to use the arrow keys on my generic keyboard to cycle through the Quickbar List on my market interface. I have a couple hundred items I search for regularly, and it takes no time at all to run through the list.
I left click the regional market icon on my Neocom, the market interface opens. I click once on where I want to start on the Quickbar, and use the keyboard arrow keys past that point. Either single presses if I’m studying each item, or press and hold key down if I’m in a hurry to seach. Press and hold foregoes opening each item on the Quickbar list.
Is this what you are asking for?
Edit to add this: I just double checked in game and I can use this same method on my overview.
So, you can use the arrow keys, at least in some circumstances, for examining the market, and on the overview.
If there is some trick to setting this up, I’ve forgotten it. I’ve just always done it this way for the market, due to trading.
I would like to fly my ship using those controls without receiving the message stating that I had lost control of my ship or was it my ship had lost control @Uriel_the_Flame

You made me think about this some more and validate.
You are right, that it is possible to use the arrow keys exactly in those two cases. Bad choice by me.
It is not possible in the market list with all the items. As it is a tree structure it would fit perfectly to open and close branches with right and left arrow.
In the inventory it is also not possible to use the arrow keys to select items.
And I think I didn’t realize that the Quickbar and the Overview is capable of this, because it is a sporadic feature and I assumed it does not exist and also switching focus and showing focus does work in a equally sporadic way.
I tried to use the assets window with keyboard only and it is possible to tab through the dropdowns buttons but it is not possible to tab into the main list of the window. At this point it is not even a question if using the arrow keys to search through the list is even possible, because I can’t reach it.
So, thanks to your feedback I need to revise my initial request to “More consistent Window controls in the UI with keyboard”.
I need to update the initial question.
