Multiboxing Poll

Speak for yourself. Multiboxing has a very positive impact on the game for me (and, I suspect, many others).

And, before anyone starts throwing accusations around, I don’t “bot” either.

Or a related activity - moving a valuable cargo, I’ll often have one character doing the actual shipping, and another one scouting ahead for gate-camps.

If for you meta is botting you are a part of problem.
The ‘meta’ don’t need bot. The meta need you are active.
CCP have kill income with all recent change./ vote with wallet : unsub. If they loose a shitons of player they will unerf thing.

Or if you want a more “GME” fashion : We all start to buy PA action and we launch a purge in direction of PA unless they agree to fire every dev of CCP who are in favor of scarity.

I have been keeping an eye on Eve since I de-subbed, however as time passes I find myself less and less likely to return. Excessive multi-boxing was always a game breaker and I have held that view from the time I first started playing.

My view is that you need at least two accounts to play Eve and not be an easy kill, I played for two years with one account and as such taking a risk to jump through a gate in nullsec was a pain in the butt, waiting for someone to log on and scout more so…

With that comment in mind excessive multi-boxing enables people to do things that they would be unable to do if they needed to form a group, it also goes against the concept of a multi-player game, freighter gankers are the biggest example of this. But we also see this with people striping belts with a mass of characters squeezing out newer players.

I believe that the game should allow multi-boxing, but I would limit it to four max, and I base that on the need for people to have cyno alts in position more than anything else.

I would advise people who do not want to sub several accounts with RL money or excessive grinding, to not play Eve , all you are is easy kill cannon fodder, so play something else. But if you can then go for it.

Brewlar, we don’t often see eye to eye, but this is over the line dude. Openly promoting that people violate the EULA is bad for everyone. You have to cut this out. I’m not trying to get you parked or banned from the forums, but I will report every post like this moving forward. And I ask that you edit this post, or I will flag it.

I’m tired. If you want to talk about your botting concerns tomorrow, we can. I don’t know if that will help anything, but the path you’re currently on can’t end well. I don’t know what else to say. So, please stop. I’ll talk to you after I’ve had some sleep.

He’s right though.

This is the system that CCP created. At this point, telling players to not cheat and bend the rules in their favor is like telling someone who’s trying to find a romantic partner that they should “just be themselves.” All it does is benefit the people who are already gaming the system, by giving them even more of what they want at the expense of everyone else.

Unless CCP agrees to do something drastic, then the best solution to bots is for everyone to have them.

have what ? Multiple account ? In fact in mono account if you are smart you could make a tons of money to.

There is a huge difference between having 11 characters and having 11 characters logged in at the same time.

The game gives players 3 character slots per account, wih the intention that players make alts for different goals. One cannot create big stories about infiltrating enemy corporations without alts. The game encourages specialisation of characters. The game actively encourages players to have alts.

Multiboxing is something different. And I’m pretty sure CCP in your example is proud about the number of characters players have, not the amount they have logged in at the same time.

Yes because i had, incorrectly it seems, assumed your arguments were actually based on video games, it would seem you were infact making even worse connections than i first assumed as you’re comparing a legally regulated casino with multiboxing in an MMO

Drop what exactly? pointing out that multiboxing is allowed and isn’t cheating? or just generally pointing out your argument is flawed?

They can be happy about both you know :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh sure!

But looking at those numbers, I’m pretty sure they mean 11 characters is the average number of characters, not the average number of multiboxed characters. Right?

People multiboxing 11 characters exist, but it won’t be the average for all 10 year+ players, while I do see how those players get that many characters.

I mean, I have 11 characters while I’ve only been playing over 3 years. Not multiboxing them, I multibox 2 at most, while I mostly prefer to fly a single character at the time.

Oh, all my bots voted too.

Stop deny and go listen this fanfest event.
You are in total desilusion right now.

And allow and encoyrage multi account is a way to promote indirect “premium account”.
More account you have, more you paid (and plex are buy by someone so indireclty you paid), more possibility of gameplay you have. That all.

Do you seriously think that 10+ year veterans have 11 characters multiboxed and on average?

You know what that means, right? There will be a lot of 10-year veterans that only fly a single ship at the time, or maybe a couple. That means that for every one of those veterans, other 10-year veterans need to be flying 20 man multiboxed fleets.

And you seriously believe that to be the case? And you say I am in delusion?

No, I think it’s far more likely that they are talking about the average number of characters per player. A number of veterans may be multiboxing that amount of ships, but not the average veteran.

That’s a no then really.

You did say that CCP design the game around multi-boxing but you can’t give even one example.

‘being proud’ of players with lots of alts isn’t the same as designing a game for them. And as gerard says: CCP might not even be talking about multi-boxing.

If you provide a link it may be easier to tell what’s what.

“Unsub” lel pleb, if you need to sub a single account please don’t talk about the meta economy, market or indy.

I’ll listen to subscribed players all day long on pvp, lore null sov ect, ect,

But please stfu on market & indy. No one cares what the “mins I mine are free & the account I sub has no plex fee” crowd think, you are all dumb as a rock. By subscribing with $ you disqualify yourself from any discussion.

I am no longer concerned by botting, neither is CCP. I don’t promote botting, I just acknowledge it as part of the meta. I hoped CCP would clamp down on botting but they never & EVE goes on.

I myself rarely play eve & when I do, I avoid the need to bot by staying out of activity where it is near mandatory, ie all pve, mining, market day trading ect. Ect.

There are some areas of eve that require intelligence ie, the market & shitposting on eve forums.

New players should know about the multi’box & bot meta before they jump in.

They should also know about the penalty for botting which goes as far as account bans.

Dude shut up. I was not making a connection. I was presenting an example of an unfair advantage. There is zero need to separate RL unfair advantage with video games except that right now you feel the need to CYA cause you can’t keep up.

Just friggen drop it along with your needless pride.

Been through this in detail.

Multi-boxing is not technically cheating. But it is fairly termed as cheating that has been officialized due to enforcement difficulties and perhaps even financial gain. As a subjective opinion, that’s fair. In this (brace yourself for more RL) gerrymandering is very similar.

Multiboxing isn’t cheating objectively speaking. Subjectively speaking I don’t think it is cheating either, unlike speaking about ‘subjectively cheating’, which may not be against the objective forum rules, but is against my subjective forum rules.

If you continue this, you’re subjectively cheating.

You were presenting an example of something unfair in a legally regulated industry, where there are actual real word financial gains to be made, which doesn’t actually compare to what you think is “unfair” in an MMO

Because the in the casino example it would be unfair, in EVE its not deemed unfair, context matters, who could have known

Cool we agree

Only by you, you’ve not yet proven how its more unfair to be killed by a multiboxer flying 4 ships than 4 players flying 1 ship each, you’re entirely free to run multiple accounts if you feel its “unfair” or that you’re at some form of “disadvantage” that you feel exists
