Ordinarily, what you’d do would be to present your argument, with supporting evidence, to a meeting with the Theology Council, with the appropriate counter scrutiny by opponents of your argument. Then, having trounced the opponents with your masterful debating skills and rhetoric, the Council would then have to consider your arguments in detail, with not just the local Theology Council but their inner circles, such that things could be changed across the Empire.
But having put on the trousers of heresy, one finds oneself inappropriately dressed for meeting the Council. Permanently.
