My questions are: Where is the CSM in all of this? And what is their opinion? And to what extent was there discussion as part of the dev process? It may be that CSM has been responding but that I haven’t seen it bec I don’t lurk extensively on the forums; but it seems that we should be directing our feedback toward them, you know, since they represent the players and all of that bullcrap. They seem to be very vocal around election time but rarely so during times of uncertainty, especially when an upcoming feature appears to threaten the balance that has been achieved long prior to its installment.
There is a big difference between invention and the mutaplasmids, which you seam to overlook by calling everything RNG.
-
Invention always creates the same BPCs with the same properties (for the same decryptor). So the result is not random, but its win or loose, based on a fixed percentage.
-
The stat of the resulting T2 mod is always the same and not random.
So you will always get the same mod with a certain percentage (e.g. 66%). Its not random at all, its a fixed percentage and the result that you have to run x% more inventions to get the number of BPC you want.
There is big difference between “gambling” and current game mechanics.
Of course many mechanics include some randomness, but they is always a mixture of skill and randomness required to achieve a goal. e.g. you need to shoot rats and clear a side (which requires skill) and then you ma get a nice loot drop (which is based on a probability).
As apposed to: you buy a mutagen and a mod on the market, apply it to your mod => you may get mod worth billions, or you may get rubbish as result. Not skill requires at all.
This is btw also how authorities like the gambling authority in Belgium and Netherlands are looking at it. See here.
When on Sissi with a friend last weekend to practice our carrier skills in the PVP system.
Got tackle on a Loki in combat area 1 and wee attacked it with 2 PVP carriers. Could not break his tank. That guy was easily tanking the full DPS of two carriers with this abyssal mod fit.
This is completely unbalanced and should never go life on TQ.
You sure it was abyssal mod fit? I mean you can get a Loki to tank a lot, add full high-grade Crystal and drugs … I was fighting against a Carrier some days ago, lost, but it took a while to overwhelm my tank, maybe 20-30% dipped into non-shield every shot. Without Crystals.
No, I do not know for sure. The guy never revealed his fit, despite me asking politely in local.
Its true that a Loki can be made to tank a lot, but 2 carriers? For like 10 minutes without breaking?
We then also tried with Bahlgorn Neuts + 1 Carrier. Did not work either.
I have been playing Eve for a long time and I have never seen a Loki tanking that much. So I am pretty confident that he had an Abyssal mod.
Neuts should work though, but a Loki with drugs has at least +60GJ/s raw plus capacitor with full recharge in less than a minute, that’s after neut reflection of the cap battery with running everything. Did you stack the neuts properly?
To get insane stats with abyssal you have to roll against deadspace … and deadspace is rare on Sisi, but not impossible.
Anyway, not happening on TQ, if drop rates from SiSi are copied over. No worry.
But I’m genuinely interested to pimp my Loki if affordable.
Man speaks the truth… CCP needs a lesson once again. How many more will be needed until they realize?
