My Experience: An Open Letter to CCP

No I do not, and I guess from that, you are absolutely not seeing what I mean, but I can live with both.

Again, FFXIV does it perfectly well and integrated into a game which also requires working with others.

I guess co-operation isnt the “playing with others” most people think EvE is “supposed” to be about or something.

It is. I have nothing against expanding pve. I was just double checking i was now on the right track.

But CCP have been experimenting with various forms of pve over the past 5 years. Seeing what works what doesn’t.

Burners. Abyss. Resource wars. Trigs and drifters. Pirate bases. Various events. Quite a bit of it has been story driven. But perhaps not the story you wanted.

And that brings me back to it being impossible for CCP to cater to everyone’s idea of good narration at once.

In the end, I simply want better and more engaging PvE. In a perfect world, the branching storylines that I am think of would be the ticket. But in reality? Simply improve Eve’s PvE. They can still feel more rewarding and dynamic, even if they don’t include the sprawling and immersive storyline that I - and many others - am dreaming of.

That would require them adding complex AI to the game, thus decreasing predictability and increasing difficulty. Now, assuming they could actually do something like that, this would lead to massive tears from the grand majority of the PvE-running population because they’re not in it for challenging content, but to watch their wallets become engaged with money (i.e. “game points”) that they’ll never use for anything aside for more bling for their PvE-running ships and occasional ganking losses.

CCP added the Trigs, and instead of getting excited about it, most PvEers started complaining about them just as much as, if not more than they did about gankers and gate campers.

You might be seeking a fulfilling and engaging gaming experience, but most others would prefer it if you shut the hell up and stopped interrupting their grind. You have to understand who the average EVE player is these days. It’s not you, and it’s not me; it’s someone who saw an EVE banner ad while browsing for mobile games on their phone or saw a referral link advertised by their favorite Fortnite streamer.

Ok, look, I’m running six accounts minimized while I watch videos on Youtube. How am I supposed to handle some stupid advanced AI script, my bot can barely keep up as it is. If I wanted to PvP, I could easily become an elite griefer, but that’s not how I want to play. This is a sandbox, and I choose to be a peaceful farmer, and I’m sick and tired of people trying to judge my playstyle.

I don’t know what any of that means, I’m only here because Asmongold mentioned this game on his channel.

For financial sustainability of this game it would be now interesting, if your six accounts are Omaga and if you payed them with ISK or real money?

Regardless, someone is paying real money for this accounts.

settles in for another round of “the PLEX I mine is free”

This is only correct, if a small amount of users is funding their Omega via ISK bought PLEX (which is valid to do so). However, the larger the quota of ISK bought PLEX Omega users get compared to the users who pay the Omega via real money or buy PLEX via real money, the more the ISK-price for PLEX raises. This forces the Omega via ISK bought PLEX to grind more and more, which due to market mechanics (e.g.: drop of resource prices) spoils the fun for occasional and new users.

This leads to a down-cycle where new/occasional users stay away from the game, resulting in even less PLEX and resulting in even less fun for them.

That’s exactly what CCP is at the moment trying to break with their “scarcity” approach.

Let me exaggerate this into the following statement: EVE players (excluding complete noobs) not paying the game via real money are parasites, unless they contribute to EVE content being PVP prey. In this case they are symbionts. Unfortunately, as the 0.0-backout has shown, most of these players prefer being parasites and where heavily opposing to be symbionts.

Noted.
Yet, the ads for EVE Online mention that the game is free to play. I’m playing for free right now, as per the ad. If that makes me a parasite then so be it. Shouldn’t advertise as free to play if it hurts the game or the devs.
Unless I’m missing something of course.

Yeah nothing wrong with improving pve. I’ve long wanted npcs with more teeth. But eve’s pve has advanced and expanded more in the past few years than ever before in the game…and it’s not enough. It’s never enough.

Indeed you are missing something: In the long run, also the CCP employees are human and they need real world money to survive. So even though it is advertised as “free to play” the idea behind this is a sample for you so that you can easily peek into the game and then, if you like it, you will transfer to a paying customer.

I feel your advanced is like Brisc’s “better”.

Id just like it to not be boring and worth doing for the sake if it rather than ever-increading isk piles.

Work is boring.

Always correct.
If I buy 500 PLEX, sell in the market and the buyer use t for Omega time then that is a symbiotic relationship, he is doing the grind for me, I’m paying for his account, we both are happy and you can shove your bigotry.

So what happens, if there are not only one but two or three buyers for your 500 PLEX?

Then me and one of the buyers are still happy and you can still shove your bigotry.

Try to think broader… what happens to the market prices?
