Native Linux Client

Hello Everybody,

since several issues with Microsoft Products more and more people are changing to Linux. So it would be great to get an native Linux client which is performance optimized so also multiboxing on linux would work on a easy and good way.

Or does anybody knows a good solution to run more than 2 clients with acceptable performance?

Thanks.

They dont have plans to do. You can use a mac.

The dev that was freely helping with Linux is no longer there

People have played EVE on Linux since almost the release of the game and also multiboxing never was an issue. It rather seems to me you did no research at all and didn’t even find the Linux section of the forum yet? Way to go.

No need to be rude, man. It’s one thing to point out that a topic has already been discussed (or point someone to a resource) but is the snark really needed? If the topic annoys you ignore it, sheesh.

No wonder this game has such a negative rep.

It annoys me that there is always the request for a native client while there really is no need for it. It is not like there are 0 threads about it already either.
There are at least 5 methods if not more to run EVE on Linux. Some are easy, some are hard. Some are with launchers, some are without. It comes down to people don’t want to try out things, which i can understand. A few years ago it was easier, when all was unified with wine and before that cedega in the ancient times. Today you can’t really give a best advise since playing on linux is too fragmented. Possible methods might be even bound to your linux distribution used.
I use plain debian with wine. Requires some knowledge and is not newbie windows user friendly that needs a point and click solution. Those solutions exist however also and there are threads about them in the linux section.

You are definately NOT alone in leaving Windows behind. Last STEAM report was somewhere around 8% of users are now on Linux.

I’m using CachyOS at the moment since my Windows 11 machine has always given me trouble(unwanted/untimely updates etc.). So far playing EVE through STEAM has been pretty awesome. I just had to re-setup all my in-game channels and settings again. (I suggest using fixed windows, direct11, and installing a app to monitor your system usage/performance).

You can create a live-boot usb drive to try it out in case you hate it, but it has literally endless customization options if you know what you’re doing.

CachyOS is a Arch distro, definitely the most popular for gamers besides steamOS. So if you’re not tech savy then google is your friend ( and reddit r/cachyos). It also has a pretty active and friendly user forum for getting help as well (not as much snobbery as some of the other distros)

If you get lost or just need install tips there are plenty of videos on youtube.

Hope this helps!

Multiple people have told me that Installing Eve via Steam, and using Proton works basically flawlessly, without any tweaking.
