Nerf Ganking Megathread

The point is to make them make more effort.

That immeadiately eliminates the lowest tier of threat.

Previously it was pointless to fit tanks on some of these ships because their tank even when fitted was laughable, that is no longer the case. So people used them with max yield fits and based their play on the yield being enough to offset the loss from gankers. Also you tend to know who ganks where you are and fit for that, there are people that move around ganking in larger numbers but that is something you have to look out for. To me this is better balance.

The premise is that your fitting choice now matters, which is what this game is all about IMO of course.

That’s because your my hauler alt, Aiko. Stop trying to use misdirection.

Nah, it didn’t really hurt me much. I’m not exclusively a ganker. I engage in a myriad of other activities. One of those took a small hit. I adapt. I adjust. I’m not going to whine and complain about it because 1) it’s a waste of time to do so. My time can be better used to see if and how I can adjust my game play to fit it back in, or just drop it all together.
And 2), forums is a terrible place to whine about things.

Honestly everything has “seasons” seasons come and go and each season brings changes. I can be miserable and pine for the past or I can learn to adapt to what the new seasons bring and find enjoyment in those changes, good or bad.

My personal view on Joy: Joy is a verb. It’s something you have to actively seek.

Nice try, but I am not falling for it.

But he’s right. Ganking is purely a highsec activity. If it were a lowsec activity then practically any confrontation in lowsec could be called ganking.

I suspect that’s because people are fitting their ships as badly as ever and thus not actually making use of any buffs. I never cease to be amazed at some of the appalling fittings that appear on ‘Why was I ganked ?’ channel…barges with empty low slots and no damage control, empty mid slots that could have shield extenders, etc, etc. CCP can buff barges…but it seems they can’t buff peoples clued-upness.

The issue is that the fitting on those ships are really tight, don’t forget that the kill reports you see on ‘Why was I ganked’ are mainly of new players or alts that have not setup their skills properly.

With Melissa in a blank clone and the Mackinaw I really had a tough job getting the fit I wanted and I have made sure to get her tank, cap and cpu skills up to the right level to enable this. It is not easy and I think that CCP are not very kind to new players in terms of this.

I didn’t play that long and I was never part of nullsec blob so maybe that is why any mention of ganking by other players that I heard was strictly related to highsec. Lowsec “ganking” was referred to as “hunting”.

Outside of EVE ganking has different definition, just like “pay 2 win”

I mine in low, sometimes null and I’ve never been ganked.

It’s significantly easier to avoid engagements you don’t want in low or nul sec because you can easily keep track of who is in system and within d-scan range.

Indeed.

I also talk to anyone who wants to gank in system to lead them into a false sense of them thinking they’ve led me into a false sense of security and then gtfo to another belt and mine for a bit or have them chase me about for lols sometimes. If they’re not very good i can get wway woth warping to another belt to mine while they look for me. All fun and games.

Wow someone doesnt like being called a krab.

Maybe they should grow thicker skin.

Krabs b krabby

Someone is playing silly buggers with blocks and flags today.

I guess if they cant talk like adults thats what they have left.

I strongly wish to be on the fence with the whole G/AG/PVP/PVE & not without RP
The comment was pulled from a 2018 reply and I had been over your past threads and had become quite a interesting subject to follow. I would like to see one further suggestion in allowing a Jump Drive to push the Freighter (any direction) 100km with the simular timer cooldown. This would not be seen as nerf to G but a requirement to use a BC or B in the tackle.

Are there any plans to remove such? This sounds alot focused on AG as AG Pilots are not being chased by state npc’s unless their standings too are of negative status.

Sometimes the way I had read your replies they are sort in favor of the G. Spot one thread of yours that holds a Ganker supporting comment? Do you know where to find the G?

is this a challenge?

And thats their fault. If you can’t research how to fit a ship properly in an almost 20 year old game with Google, then you deserve the death

Um. You can do the same thing in high sec LOL.

Also stop trying to make nul happen LOL.

Which is fine.

A MJD would be interesting against bumping.

There are two elements to this, the first is to do with the freighter itself because people need to feel like they can take the risk of timing their move through a camped system. Thta was the context of what I detailed here. I have detailed the issue with AG hunting taht tethering had.

I do admit to debating the value of ganking in terms of people ending up not doing the content that they want to do while spending a lot longer to move stuff, thus making it less interesting for them and a time sink which is an issue with this game. Still I appreciate it but I have a lot of time to play around with.

That was directed at another person, not you.

I know for me, it gets harder to keep track of who’s who as system populations go up. But then again, you’d have to be pretty stupid to run missions from high traffic systems, or pop abyssal filiments from Jita.
You’re just asking for a gank.

I just wanted to add that one in there though I am sure it was brought up in the past. It is good to at least have it included in this Mega Anti-ganking thread and more options there are the better the chances of settling on a few. We all know one side is needed more than the other.

Shipwreck shared a good tip a while ago.

Very useful even in high.
