Nerf Ganking Megathread

Yennoe when you me and Aiko agree on something, that says something LOL.

Also, he’s probably an alt of my dear friend, so it explains a lot.

That’s because the people who support ganking, even if they are not actually gankers themselves, are generally all highly active people who undock every day and do stuff and have experience all over Eve…whereas the ‘ban ganking’ crowd are largely pontificating from a 1.0 system dock somewhere or while AFK for hours in some asteroid belt.

They aren’t even logged in.

They make zero effort. Like the guy in the Mackariel earlier who’d fitted 4 cargo expanders yet zero tank. Four slots left totally unused. No damage control. And ( like so many ) he was AFK and admitted it. I have zero sympathy for anyone who’s been in Eve 3 years and still doesn’t know how to fit a barge properly. You did Eve a service by ganking him.

Yet, here you are, crying about it every day?

Maybe look at Ganking in a different way?
I can understand Gankers that blow a 500 Mio ISK Hauler. It is about robbing, fine.
Gankers might want Revenge, fine.
That one might fly something very blingy, lets gank. Fine.
Get that miner out of our belt, lets gank. Fine.
and a lot of other scenarios that are imho perfectly fine in this sandbox.
I might not like it, but I can understand it.

What I do not get, is this attitude towards Gankers that work specifically just to ruin someone elses game, without any gain but to inflict misery on others.

this is done for one reason, to slaughter people going to a CCP made event.

Where CCP deliberately created bottlenecks, ship restrictions and places one has to go to, setting the perfect stage.

To come back to your idea. Maybe not putting green lock on systems. Do it around and in PvE event sites.

Holy ground, Highlander! Remember what Ramirez taught you.

Example?

Yosameto is a 0.6 system. Your post may be slightly off topic by about 0.4 system security units.

Apart from that, what do you have against pvp in hisec ? Don’t get me wrong, a small portion of it will be griefing, the majority of it is not. What is that you see on zkill for Josameto that appears so “wrong” ? Most of it is a few ganked (notice the choice of word, it’s not “griefed”) ships plus their attackers paying the price to Concord (and neutral alts more than likely scooping up the loot).

So you want instanced gameplay LOL.

Nah bro. This is EVE  They already caved and did the Abyss. Just do that

Run it in a very popular system in a trade pipeline too.

You get the best results

Looks pretty dope.

I can answer that: Jaguar | Khuttulun | Killmail | zKillboard

See, he has no problem with haulers hauling 500mil getting ganked, because he is not hauling 500mil+ himself. But once it is combat ship doing PVE, then he has a problem with it as it affect him himself.

None of what you see in Josameto is an actual griefing. Even the rookie ships getting killed are killed for reasons.

Here are some of the reasons these gank on what you see as non-profit are happening:

  1. It actually is ganking for profit, but it is performed blindly. Ganker has no means to scan the ships beforehand or he is not doing it to not scare the victim and just attacks every ship of a class that is likely to have good loot in cargo or expensive modules fitted. This is the case of above killmail.

  2. If it is not ganking for profit, it is ganking for a value. Not a value that drops, but to make sure the actually loss is much higher than yours so you are so called “ISK-positive”. This is the main, but not the only, reason for ganking autopiloting capsules.

  3. Is it their territory and they are defending it by ganking as that is now the only way we can actually do it.

  4. Because the ship is lost already and there is no escape so gankers are attempting to kill at least something. This is the case why sometimes rookie ships are killed - the ganker failed and his original target escaped, or is too tanky, or he was caught by anti-ganker or npcs and cannot warp away or he killed his original target and still have some time to shoot, so he shoots the closest target he can kill.

  5. Because the player is successfully avoiding PvP for years and is 10+ years old with blank killboard. Gankers love to take virginity of such players even if it will be stupid rookie ship.

  6. Ganked pilot has a history of mocking or being toxic to gankers or is attempting so called anti-ganking. Anti-ganking is bad for your health, you will eventually become a target and you die. Not recommended!

  7. The pilot had valuable cargo when gankers scanned him, but didn’t have it when they killed him. I generated a few of these kills myself with my hauling alts.

  8. Not enough time to check out the target. We don’t want to kill new players (because they are unlikely to have valuable loot or modules or pod), but it sometimes happens because we forgot or simply didn’t have enough time to check their age. When this happens we are mostly refunding the loss to them. Not a case of above poster because while he is new player he somehow is flying Jaguar already hence we assume he is actually an alt of some rich veteran. If he is truly new player well, bad for him, but he didn’t lost as much anyway.

This isn’t fully exhaustive list and there are plenty other reasons why are some ganks happening and none of this is griefing - victim of the gank will always see it as griefing because he did not choose to be killed and his death significantly disrupted his profit, plans or goals.

Eitherway we already learned from various gank-removal threads that this is only an excuse for their hatred towards ganking and their wish for ganking be removed from the game entirely. Half of them will claim that is is wrong that gankers are killing something that doesn’t give them profit, while the other half of gank-haters will claim that is is outrageous that gankers can actually get any ISKs for illegally killing other players in safe zone and will suggest stupid ideas like that freighter EHPs should be 10x higher or that no loot should be dropped in case of a gank etc. basically an ideas to remove ganking from the game.

All of this is indeed true.

But remember Lucas has a super secret tanky fit that also can warp really fast but he refuses to share

He also thinks tengus are somehow invulnerable in high sec LOL.

What’s the secret?

I want my Tengu to be invulnerable in high sec too.

Dunno. He claims to have a super secret fit that he won’t share

Sounds like an exploit to me.

I wouldn’t be surprised

What context bruv

You left out reason 9, which is that you cannot separate mining ( for example ) from the rest of the game. There should not be any ’ I’m a miner, leave me alone ', because ultimately that ore is going to convert to ISK and those ISK are going to buy combat ships. There is no other reason for mining. Anyone who’s mining just for the ‘fun’ of it and piling up a huge wad of ISK is in the wrong game.

Carebears try to separate mining from its ultimate consequence…from the only reason mining is even in the game. But every miner is part of the supply chain for war. There isn’t some separate Carebear Telletubbie realm of Eve where the 7 Dwarves sing Disneyland songs and people are just ‘miners’. No…they are all suppliers to the arms trade. Every one of them.

People ought not to be able to complain about the harsh realities of PvP while their pick axe mines the very materials that make it possible. Being part of the supply chain for war makes a person a perfectly valid target. Miners, despite their protestations, are engaging in PvP.
