I’ve only been playing a few days and have read a lot of forum posts on joining a corp. I am getting to the point where looking is bugging me out and i’d rather just play the game instead of spending my time looking. I have had a few emails from recruiters but they all seem generic and if i look up the corp/alliance i can only find bad info or none at all. In game channel is full of spam so i have stopped watching that. I don’t want to be forced to install a ton of software or fill out forms. I understand the whole trust thing but this is still a game. So my question is, do i really need to look for a corp? What am i missing playing a multiplayer game on my own?

I myself have played for many years solo. Wanted to be able to do everything and do everything solo. I won’t say you can’t but you would need many accounts ( AS I do ) to try.
Why join a Corp? It’s all about the “Learning Curve” . In the right Corp there are other players to learn from so you don’t make so many costly errors early and quit.
Finding a Corp that fits you is hard. Many time zones, many play styles, and lots of different people. And the hardest part is you wont know about a Corp till you do join.
I have a Corp called Order of Fedo. I have a lot of newer players. I have a lot of options for newer players to learn and grow.
Would my Corp be right for you? No idea but I have systems in place to start you on the right path.

Yo m8, welcome, yeah can be hard at start, well have a look if u loking for a newplayer friendly group with a coll identity ingame 
Depends on what you plan to do but yes you can play solo too. I do so on my main but also have a corp for personal benefits and also share some of those benefits with others by opening it up for others as well, though it is not for people who are looking for actual group play (you can look up my threads on this forum and see my recruiting thread).
The recommendation for corp is both to have a way to learn from more experienced players and have somewhat of a safety-net to fall back on if bad things happen in game and also to can participate in group activities.
Though you can join public or invite only fleets for some group play content even if just mining and if you play smart even bad things will be just temporary obstacles, so you can definitely play solo too most cases but it will have its drawbacks for sure (just like playing alpha only has its drawbacks and limitations) and I do both and enjoy the challenge (and truth be told if you play smart you can go a long way even as a solo alpha) and if you just want to chat you can join in-game public channels too for the social aspect.
So in the end it depends on your playstyle and how much additional challenge you are willing to accept (or outright prefer) whether you should join a corp or not.
Thank you guys for the replys. I have been doing a lot of searching and i think i’m going to go-it-alone for now. I have had a lot of random corp invites both from large and small corps. What i don’t get is the level of paranoia in the corp joining process. Some corps require you to have a voice interview, install thier software, sign up to a forum give them access to my details and my mothers maiden name 
. I get this game is harsh but i find this very strange and at the end of the day this is just a game.

I am a returning player who has created a corporation based on learning’s from playing eve for years! We have discord and whilst we are very relaxed about it a lot of people are always available around the clock. Were also a very friendly bunch
