(New) Character Creation System is absolute garbage (Pictures inside)

You can still pick any face type. You can now pick any regardless of what Empire/School you pick. This is good, actually; you can make someone trained in Caldari space who is ethnic Minmatar, say. (Problem is if you won’t know they are ethnic Minmatar, because the info you get is “FACE TYPE X” that goes with face type X specific clothing options.)

This bug has been around or ages…

Never managed to replicate it. :frowning:

I want a “portrait” of my backside then. It’s my best feature! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

…Yeah…I don’t know what CCP’s thoughts were when deploying something like this in this way, but…I don’t think this was the right way and I’m hoping this was deployed to TQ instead of a test server by accident rather than choice.

I do like you could be a Minmatar in the Gallente Federation, but players should know this is what they are doing. I like the suggestion to label the bloodlines as stereotypes and add information on the origin of the stereotype.

With clothing, hairstyles and tattoos, I’d like to see you are able to mix any of them with any stereotype and body type, and also include information in which culture they originated (with an additional warning is someone outside the Minmatar Republic/stereotypes is choosing Matari tattoos).

Also, I understand that the detailed customization of facial and body features is gone in this creator, and that would be a loss in my opinion. I’d prefer to have more control over facial and body features so you could create more androgynous looking characters.

And to finish, I think it would be awesome if you could choose what your next clone would look like, and that it could be entirely different from your current clone.

Plenty of good feedback on how this likely-sociopolitically-aligned decision could be better executed. Until then, perhaps I’ll be withholding my PLEX/pack spending.

@Brisc_Rubal kindly suspend your (wholly inadequate) anti-Red Dot efforts and focus your efforts on tackling this new menace that plagues us

@Mike_Azariah please make sure he actually accomplishes something in his tenure as CSM (and make sure he takes his meds)

This crap character uncreator is a liquid manure ocean on planet Boolshite Prime in the Ridiculo system of the Circus galaxy.

Why change it? The old one is absolute ok. There are probably 100 things to fix that are more important than the character creator. CCP logic.

keep in mind, a team working on the character creator is not the same team working on fixes to be fair to CCP. They have multiple teams with different priorities

good God the minmatar are ugly

It was not broken, why “Fix” it? Give us more clothes, prosthetics arguumations, poses/backgrounds, The Triglivan race at the creator. The new creator looks cheep. It is objectively worse than the old one. https://twitter.com/RhiannonElse/status/1338079279490404352

Because the original person who wrote most of the code for the character creator likely left the company a while ago, without much documentation on what did what, and they’re trying to suss out what does what so they can make it better to give more options?

current implement is ■■■■, and its one of a few reasons I’ve pulled two of my subs, a couple of the others being neglect of the lore team(being mainly one man, CCP Delegate Zero, seriously this man is a saint and deserves several awards for his dedication) and ISD NEC, and most lore not tied to CCP’s big projects like Invasions, but I still have one of my accounts(this one) while I hold out a bit to see what happens.

CCP could have simply had an info box that essentially said “Your race and bloodline only affects your appearance and starting skills but does not affect what you’re able to do in EVE - you can still fly ships of other races. Your university only affects your starting location.”. I should also point out that in the past 17 years it’s very unlikely that more than a handful of players (Alpha or Omega) aborted playing EVE because they were under the false impression that they couldn’t cross-train racial hulls, etc.

This is not a good look into the future, and I’m new here. Shameful display.

How do you manage to keep losing your pod in highsec all the time?

No, because that’s immersion-breaking meta stuff.
Apparently for some reason breaking the 4th wall like this is bad, otherwise it would be common.

Unless it is common, but I haven’t seen any evidence of that.

It seems that such things are nowadays communicated mostly from behind the 4th wall …
… which makes sense, I guess, when your target audience is escapists.

In EVE it’s the same. People often asked for a simple UI window telling new players about the dangers …
… but such a thing, despite definitely easily implemented, never saw the light of day. Instead there’s Aura.

Makes me wonder why they haven’t loreified** the new player FAQ.

**(THAT’S A WORD NOW OKAY?)

CCP scrapped the idea of bloodlines completely, but they still use it in this creator as the clothes are tied to character bloodline like before?

Silliness!

One of the upsides of the new character generator is that it actually does have this.
