New 'Drifter Crisis' Event?

I wonder if this is a recent change. I made a character to test them earlier on in the event. Realized the time invest wasn’t worth it and there is no way I’d trust another player in there to do it as a group. They blew my ship up, but there was no bubble. And they didn’t try to target my pod afterwards. I didn’t linger for a super long time, but long enough to save the wreck location before I warped away. But I failed a hack. Maybe it’s different if you trigger a trap. I had no issue avoiding the trap radius.

So, the high stakes Race for the Hives event is over since downtime, even though I still keep getting fleet rewards for Deepflow Rifts for some reason. Any news on which five factions won allegedly?

They were nearly 250m/hour (assuming 10 sites in 1h:5m which was my casual average) with basically permanent availability so better than a lot of activities.

But they were very tedious. I’m gonna have to take a break from EVE for a while…

This was the score last week:

EDENcom, Angels and Amarr likely battled a bit to see who got 4th and 5th place but I haven’t seen a final result yet.

Gold and Bone my Angel friends.

So the results are in and the holy Amarr beat out the dastardly Angels for 5th place.

Apparently these 5 factions will now need to push into and conquer Drifter space in the next stage of the Drifter Crisis, coming on April 15. More details in the linked blog.

Congratulations to the strongest five! (And hey, at least Edencom supporters finally got some use out of the whole Trig/Drifter storyline…)

Did they add some new mechanics for formerly pledging to factions like Upwell that I was not tracking?

They’ve been using a “Declare/choose the faction you’ll support” mechanic in events for a couple years now. It’s only used within the event itself and doesn’t have affect normal gameplay (so far).

The description of the Drifter Crisis implies “permanent changes to the game”, somewhat like the Triglavian event results. So I don’t expect the faction you support will matter in the long run, but anything’s possible I guess.

In case you didn’t notice it in the launcher, CCP is giving 5 days of free Omega with which to wrap up the final days of the Drifter Crisis event:

It says “Until April 14, claim in the NES” so I always see that as “be sure to grab it by the 13th to be safe”.

Have fun with your premium time!

The Drifter Crisis event is in it’s final stage now, along with the advent of the annual Capsuleer Day activities. And it looks like some pretty interesting sites and rewards both in and out of Drifter Wormhole Space!

Although I’ve been giving most events a pass for the last couple of years (IMO the event design has not been as good as events 5 or more years ago), I feel like I’m missing out on some good activities here. If my time wasn’t already completed committed I’d be exploring this event a bit more. So kudos to CCP for designing an event and story with some great interaction here!

(And yes, I’m aware that some parts of the event could have been designed better, been more solo friendly, been more supportive of fleet formation, etc. etc. I still think CCP has pulled off a better event design here than most of the past 3 years, say.)

Not trying to be disrespectful but you sound like an undercover promo bot

Kezrai is anything but a CCP fanbot. If you’d bothered to check any of Kezrai’s prior posts there are plenty that take CCP to task for their poor game design decisions, poor coding, etc.

No worries, I can see where that impression might come from. As Anabella said, the majority of my posts are quite critical of the various ways I disagree with CCP’s design or approach or communications.

However, I really do appreciate certain aspects of EVE and of what CCP does (or tries to do) with it… so when they’re taking what I think are positive steps I do my best to encourage those. In this case, I’ve enjoyed what they did with the story and the ‘lore reveals’ and the setup for the Drifter Crisis, so I discuss it in a positive manner.

(See the various lore, video, and ‘Fiction Portal’ links in the previous posts. I thought there was a lot of neat stuff there.)

I also enjoyed (and was active in, since I had more time back then) the Triglavian Invasion back in 2019/2020. And I thought it was pretty great, right up until near the end when they messed the whole thing with their rigged and scripted ending.

Found couple of hacking sites yesterday. Completed two. Difficulty is pretty good (failed some hacks completely) but the rewards… I think it was something like 10 million per site in items which are requested by NPC stations. In comparison, one of regular Angel sites has an item which sells for about 300 million. Maybe more than one, i haven’t checked.
In general, not impressed. But i have only seen one type of hacking site.

never surrender

Looks like the action is heating up in the Drifter Wormholes:

I’m hoping to try a couple of the event sites this weekend, if I can get away from Easter family stuff long enough. People have been saying that sites are fairly limited in high and low sec. Does anyone have any recommendations for event content that could be tackled in say, an hour of game time?

Cannot say for weekend but last week i felt really lone in my corner of low-sec near Hek. It looks like everyone has moved away. Only had couple times when somebody “stolen” my hack sites.
