New Eden Corporation Names Should Be Released If Inactive for 30+Days

With the ability to create a Corporation name based on the skills trained we can become stuck on obtaining the Corp name that we really would like and that is all due to Capsuleers creating a Corp then going AFk for long periods of time. This locks away the Corporation name forever and I strongly feel that many would agree that names should be released back into circulation if no pilot inside said Corporation is active in 30 or ore days.

Why don’t we release these names back into the availability pool?

This name is not appropriate.

This thread is not about that name in question, it is about; names should be released back into circulation if no pilot inside said Corporation is active in 30

My answer is no.

Not sure but either way 30 days is all too short, maybe an entire year but even then some people are off of EVE for several years, some even close to a decade before they decide to come back.

Literally every name in New Eden has a history. That history can be famous, notorious, bland, or even empty. A name belongs either to someone or a group of people who have built it, experienced it, lived through many things, or at least have memories associated with that name. Names have consequences.

We should not only respect that, but also cherish it, as part of EvE’s collective history.

@Felix_Frostpacker are you a member of The Frolicking House of Frostpackers by any chance? Specifically a relaitive of one @Iceacid_Frostpacker?

I feel for you, what you brought up is a very very serious problem causing widespread suffering across the cluster :pensive:

This is a goddamn headache and you’re actually right.
Same with the corporation tickers in my opinion. Remove them all together but keep alliance tickers.

No pilots, no assets, 12 months inactivity… sure, seems reasonable.

You calm down! You popcorn devouring forum warrior! :black_heart:

What we REALLY need is for tickers to be longer than what we have now because it’s getting problematic. Give it one or two extra characters.

@Aisha_Katalen
A very good solution/suggestion too! I like it.
The ticker thing is problematic indeed.

That said, I suspect this is infeasible due to the impersonation issues that would come up.

They really don’t want us posting about popcorn do they?
What if we wanted to create a corporation that manufacturers and delivers popcorn around New Eden? We couldn’t have a ticker [popcorn[ because it’s too long.

I vote for neither removing corporation tickers and keeping alliance or
keep both but make them longer or
delete old corporations that aren’t used / quit the game.

Have you tried buttchugging1? or 2?

What might be an idea to consider is if a corporation has an office it slowly bleeds the Corp wallet, once it hits 0 the corporation shares are gradually moved to a stock exchange where players can buy them (also allowing them to buy and sell any shares they have personally or for their corporation.

This way active players can make a quick ISK or perhaps seek out corporations which might be paying dividends

While inactive players and corporations which are clearly dead can then re-enter circulation over time allowing people taking a break not to be effected while others who haven’t played in 3-5 years to be cycled into some kind of inactive category. Effectively this creates a market place for corporation shares

This would ultimately create a new Eden stock exchange which is something I have proposed before.

This would likely have to be phased in over time
