New subscription structure

A 5% reduction in the basic monthly Eve Online subscription fee per year of continuous account ownership to a maximum of 50% after 10 years.
Seems like a good plan to me.
What do you think?

Why not the reverse? The longer you play the more enjoyment EVE brings you, thus clearly it’s worth more. You would pay double after ten years, a completely fair additional pay for ten years of continuous fun.

This could have come straight out of Hilmar’s fantasies. :open_mouth:

The smartest way to subscribe is wait for sales and decide between plex or packs or straight out omega

No, you know that we know who our war efforts were going towards.

I am always in favor of the “Buy to Play” model. I think Guild Wars was the first MMO to enlist such a form of payment. I recall I paid $50 at Target per module, then I spent a lot more on cosmetics in the game. Later in 2012 they released GW2 under the same model but dropped it for the free to play with micro transaction item mall. Black Desert charges for their game as well Starting at $10 for basic and increasing per tier. Then they also have an in game item mall with mostly cosmetics.

Why do I like buy to play? Few to none of the RMT’s in chat. It gate keeps the unwanted element. Both of those games mentioned above have 10 day free trial without chat. The original GW never went free to play and it is still needed for the Hall of Monuments rewards, if you plan to play the second-rate sequel.

I know this game was subscription only, but it will never return to full sub. Nor is it likely to change the optional sub rates. Most people agree $20 per month is a fair price, although our neighbor who told us about this game pays a cheaper yearly rate. It is just my opinion, they shouldn’t call these Free to Play, when it is Optional Subscriptions. I imagine people who trade their ISK for Plex to subscribe believe the game is not worth their cash, but never heard or understood the saying, “Time is money.”.

Have fun!

You Sir, are a Genius! :sunglasses:

If you play with plex for 24 MONTHS goes from 12000 PLEX to 6600
Whare are we talking here ?

I’ll take 50% off yea

  1. Nerf Alphas with an industrial-sized nerf bat (we’re talking cruiser cap and no more SoCT ships).
  2. Roll-out a Delta subscription for 1/2 the current cost (battlecruiser cap). Half the training time of Omega.
  3. Buff Omegas (no price change). Increase training time by 1.5x. Unlimited remaps.

Honestly, the whole attribute and remap system should just be removed. It’s such a relic that works against players in so many ways. Instead just have SP gained into the unallocated pool so it can be used when you want it on what you want, this will also make it tie in better with SP rewards and injectors. That’s going to make it much easier for newbies as well where they don’t have to make skill choices just yet and can just play&learn the game while worrying about what to train later, as they are accumulating SP over time.

How to make that work with implants I have no idea (yet).

I think 5% is negligible enough to be ignored as a joke and 50% after 10 years is so big that it also can be ignored as a joke.
So basically this thread is a joke.

go back to $15/mo for all accounts.

Adding $5 to the first sub cost CCP a lot of money from me, out of sheer disdain. Hey, if $5 is worth losing $30-60 extra every month then keep it up, boys.

I give it a 0% chance anyone at CCP noticed your little boycot as their multimillions in subscription revenue jumped 33% in one day

Theres been talk and i think briscket mentioned they wanted to do away with the attribute system.

I know they’ve been wanting to do this for a long time and at first I was “oh hell no, not any more dumbing down” but it does make good sense for various reasons. It’s the sort of unnecessary complexity like learning skills and combat clones.

The way I see it, if they radically alter the payment structure, membership will not change much. For example, if they raise or lower their prices, players will assume the game is in jeopardy. Some will panic and not buy long term contracts with them.

By the way, 5% of the monthly $20 is only $1 off. Better check your math @Sultan_Khan  5% reduction on $20 per year for 10 years?

$20.00 $1.00 1st Year
$19.00 $0.95 Year 2
$18.05 $0.90 Year 3
$17.15 $0.86 Year 4
$16.29 $0.81 Year 5
$15.48 $0.77 Year 6
$14.70 $0.74 Year 7
$13.97 $0.70 Year 8
$13.27 $0.66 Year 9

The lower the payment the less the reduction becomes.

If a game would use product placement like they do in movies, it would not only pay for the game, but add the element of immersion. When you are watching an action movie and the hero reaches into his cooler and pulls out a beer with a name brand on it. In the back of your mind, you think, “He drinks my brand of beer.”. Otherwise should the actor pull out a no brand generic beer, your mind snaps back to reality and says, “Stupid movie couldn’t afford a real beer… no one drinks generic beer!”. This kind of financial support hasn’t been seen often in online games.

Eve Online could do this with the billboards replacing the generic fake ads with real product. Then they could pass on the savings to the players. In fact, offering players manufacture’s coupons, would show the clients their ads are working, when the player cashes in a buy one get one free coupon at the store.
