Iralaja IX - Home Guard Testing Facilities
Last Month, Black Rise Regional News reported that Iralaja IX had been found to house a new form of zooplankton previously unknown to New Eden. Apparently the scientific community had been falling over each other to secure permission and grants to study this new lifeform for at least a year before the news even got out.
The team of Dr. Juusei Taril-Taren, of Taril Labs based in Piak, a subsidiary of the Hyasyoda Corporation, managed to secure funding and permits ahead of the curve and started on a research expedition in the Iralaja system to observe these new forms of life.
According to the scientific reports this new lifeform, dubbed Pyrosoma Iralajis Tarilii, grows up to 15 centimetres in length and has an unique orange bioluminescence when agitated. It reportedly lives from the excretions of bigger fauna living underneath the icy sheets of the planet’s surface. Pyrosoma species have been known to reach sizes of up to 20 metres in more temperate environments, but the P. I. Tarilii favours effeciency over growing to unsustainable sizes in its icy biome, where food can be scarce.
Dr. Taril-Taren is expected to return to Lonetrek in several weeks to speak on his findings at the Annual Microfauna Conference in the Piekura system.
