That article and statement means literally nothing
“While we regularly review various strategies to enhance our global competitiveness, no decisions have been made, and we have nothing to announce at this time,”
That just means they haven’t picked anyone yet and that means there is nothing to announce, doesn’t mean they are not selling them in the slightest, its just standard corp speak
Often times corporations look for buyers on the open market. It doesnt mean they will sell but if someone offers them a competitive deal then why not sell? Itd be like listing your house or car for well over market value, say 20% or more, and seeing if theres someone willing to purchase it.
Often times its a gauge of market movement and all such things rather than a huge issue of selling off stuff that has just under-performed. So no not worried here.
Though I do echo some of the posts about the direction of Eve and the development of “stuff” that isnt Eve Online in a search for another golden cow in Hilmars eyes. And as past posters on the forums stated that Hilmar is great at getting people to give him money it hasnt meant squat for Eve online but keeping the lights on.
Just posting what I find on r/Eve (even the rockpapershotgun article is from r/Eve just posted it on its own as the main discussion on r/Eve goes in the original thread).
You seem not paying attention to what is posted so, again:
Unless you somehow get scared of reading some articles and formulating your own opinion about them. Nobody claims it confirmed, people are discussing what it means if true and related subjects as a thought experiment or what if scenario, that’s all.
That’s why I’ve added the top comment for nuance. By the way that’s what most comments conclude too that this is just corporate speak (wordsalad?) that doesn’t even deny the allegations nor mean they will not sell in the future.
This is a related subject that is also worth discussing and this news (whether true or not) is a good reason for having such related discussions as well. Hey, maybe the leadership / investors get exposed to some of these comments and something good might come out of it in the end? Who knows. Either way this is why this is worth discussing in my opinion.
Sure, but considering the recent failures with side projects and that CCP didn’t meet the initial revenue goals to earn the bonus payout that was set out when they were purchased, its a case of this definitely being more likely than unlikely IMO
Especially given that the official response from PA didn’t actually deny it either
Nice. Then with the next patch they will wipe all corp hangars. Then pretend to be working on recovering your stuff and somehow only recover stuff from important streamers, leaving the rest of the playerbase with empty hangars.
What I wonder though, is why have we not heard a word from CCP on this?
Could be just me, but I don’t see anything anywhere from CCP, I can find lots of outside articles. But nothing from CCP about how they plan to make themself worthwhile while not destroying the game for all of us (anymore than they already have).
I was looking at various articles, there are some pretty weird numbers. 2018 and 2019 as year, $450M as price and about $160M at the time (sounded like they had found the old currency exchange rate).
EDIT Obvious some prices are posted about without really having the details.
When PA released their Q1 financials the writing was on the wall. CCP has almost exhausted the $50m “lifeline” that PA extended it years ago and has been losing millions every quarter since. CCP will be broke by the end of summer without another massive cash infusion.
There’s no more “crypto cash”, either - so they can’t use Frontier to offset any operational expenses. In fact, it now looks like they’re ramping up development, marketing and advertising to get Frontier out the door - so they may burn through any remaining cash even quicker.
If you thought there were a lot of recent sales, well - you ain’t seen nothing yet… 2:1 PLEX sales will harken the coming of the apocalypse.
Pearl Abyss hasn’t exactly been “hitting it out of the park” with their own titles or new projects, either. Right now CCP is an anchor stranding Pearl Abyss at sea - when they’re desperately trying to reach shore…
