You do realize that you don’t need to stay in High-Sec, right?
What about crowdfunding something like a few trillion ISK from the players for a new gate? Note that I would prefer a faster lowsec route because it was the players who failed to protect the hisghsec route through Niarja.
One thing CCP could do to reduce the pain a bit, is re-open the Kisogo-Todrir gate. That would take a few jumps off the HS route with less controversy as it wouldn’t be something new.
Or maybe the empires could build a new gate but due to costs it can be a toll gate
It was lost because players chose to lose it. Players willingly made the effort to close off niarja. and now you’re asking for the developers to come in and kick over that sandcastle that we’ve worked hard to build.
I’ll let you all in on a secret…
There already is a Niarja bypass, at least going from Amarr to Jita. It’s called Pochven.
While I do believe that turning Niarja a Triglavian system was the intention of the players, I would question the expectations and motivations. I would think that making the system low-sec was the intention, so haulers can be harassed while the shortest safe alternative route is the current one. But I don’t think any of the players wanted to completely remove the system from the gate network.
I can be wrong of course, but I don’t think the current situation matches what anyone actually wanted to achieve.
The expectation and motivation was “because it’d be funny to see everyone cry about it.”
Obviously it was or they wouldn’t have flipped it.
You must be new to EVE Online.
Not sure if serious…
The intention was to sever the connection between jita and amarr.
Few people care about the status or connections of Niarja except for it’s importance in connecting the two trade systems.
If CCP simply replace it with a new connection that lowers the high-sec route below the current 40 something systems, it’d be a deliberate reversal of player agency after CCP themselves offered the opportunity.
The motivation was to cut Jita off from Amarr. Niarja being removed entirely from the jump gate network is irrelevant. If anything, it only saved players from accidentally wandering into a worse-than-Rancer situation.
The number of people who wanted Niarja made into lowsec but not aprt of the Triglavian constellation are an extraordinarily tiny number of people.
People either are highsec bears who want it to remain highsec, or they are like us and just wanted to disconnect Jita/Amarr. I’d guess most of the moaning is from people who simply want it restored to highsec.
Of course we wanted Niarja to leave the Gate systems. From the day with the trailer of the gate going offline we hoped for it.
…. oh noes my game got hard
These reactions are too impatient. Slowly but surely there will be 4 major hubs of trade, possibly more.
Did a load of you forget that Eve Online is about challenge and adaptation? (You guys have it so easy these days).
As somebody mentioned on another thread, it would be good to have shortcuts only for EDENCOM loyalists. Kybernauts already have those, why not for EDENCOM?
The audacity of asking for special treatment when it was you guys that lost the system in the first place.
Big benefit for something previously unannounced.
- Define “Edencom Loyalist”.
- Will the option to become one be available retrospectively?
- What about options for redemption for misguided Triglavian loyalists?
- What about those that lost their standings to Edencom?
- Edencom loyalists are the people who, during the invasion were killing the Trigs.
- Yes, just start killing Trigs.
- Start killing Trigs.
- Kill Trigs.
(There seem to be a weird pattern here…)
You can also be an Edencom loyalist by defending Pochven space for the Triglavians.
CCP said, choose wisely. EDENCOM player chose the wrong decision, where CCP had praised the trigs everywhere. All the powerful trig ships, the NPCs and everything.
But no, the EDENCOM players messed us all up!
If they hadn’t defended anything, 23 completely insignificant systems would have been taken over long ago and we would have the whole story at least a year already behind us. But no, they wanted to play the HS savior. It was probably the wrong decision, but live with it now.
Speaking for myself, I didn’t even think that far ahead as to what would become of Niarja eventually, I was merely fixated on the Jita-Amarr shortcut turning Metropolis into an afterthought navigating highsec.
The outcome is fairly stunning to me, most of the activity has shifted into a compact space in Caldari/Gallente space, Minmatar and Amarr are now the secret hint for miners and casual mission runners. When you’re all the way out from Jita, both gankers and empty belts have become symptomatic for the forge to sinq, but swarms of covetors and hulks populate the other end of the universe… just without notable ganking activity.
I’d rather sit back and wait what becomes of that new highsec layout eventually, but it looks like a nice map right now.
