Although I wasn’t a DBA did the hardware side of it and as an IT Backup Specialist (EMC Networker, TSM, Avamar, DoubleTake) it drove me sometimes almost insane

Don’t worry, you are in good company with this iteration of CCP if you yell like this.
I am not complaining, I asked a question. I find it funny that this needs to be figured out, though. Must be a case of “The logs show nothing” hitting CCP for a change and not just people contacting support.

I noticed it too. I thought for a moment that CCP had rolled out the blackout in high-sec

So as i said, happy about this. But I would like to recognize @CCP_Convict and @CCP_Explorer for finally posting on forums and responding to things. I do hope this is something we will see in other more controversial updates/discussions as well

I don’t want players to log in to try and break any online records. I really want as close to a typical Wednesday as possible.
Then you shouldn’t have said anything. Just let players discover that nothing happens and they can keep playing.
Advertising the change only guarantees that it will be a non-typical day in some form or fashion.

I know some player actions are timed around logging in as soon as downtime ends but the majority of players don’t. Australia & Antipodes Islands suffer a disproportional amount at downtime.
Any thoughts on implementing a rolling schedule - say every 27 hours - to “Share the inconvenience”

IMO only. Have no evidence to support this statement.
I think there is pressure from the Asian region to move downtime.
With the Korean player base and the new owners they may have had words.
