True, but you could have been sneaky and just said “If anybody notices anything unusual, let us know” or something. Of course, then you’d get a lot of “no downtime, that’s unusual” reports.

What awesome timing. Local chat is developing problems again (not showing new arrivals in local, not removing people from local chat that leave the system / log off etc etc etc) and then this? Wonderful timing.
I can already tell you the outcome of this experiment - it will fail, there will be an “emergency downtime” a LOT earlier than tomorrow evening and local will be screwed again for days just like before. GJ CCP!!
This is probably nothing more than a rushed-out weak ploy to try to take attention from the online gambling they are bringing into the game anyway.
Maybe - JUST MAYBE - before you “experiment” with things like this you should actually fix the problems that keep arising like this problem with local chat screwing up again.

CSM is an elite RMT leaks club and everyone who runs for it is a crook looking to get RMT leaks.
I did not mock him for running and failing, I despise him for hisec changes back in odyssey, and simply expressed relief that at least hisec won’t get another term of The Vegetable on it.

Plenty of decent folks have been on the CSM. Never heard anybody say anything negative about Steve or Suitonia.
I am so tired of people whining about the tiniest things. Have you never played a game that had some bugs in it? Really one day where things might (or might not) work quite right? One day where you might or might not be able to mine or farm your mission? How about we cut these guys some slack now and then. I would hate to work for people like us.

I’d like to think this is also an attempt to resolve the ‘infinite resources’ issue… so there will be no respawn of asteroid belts.
No, they simply won’t run (at least, this would be my hope/expectation).
I know not of these ‘realms’ and ‘instances’ of which you speak, but Eve is one realm/shard/instance, you take one down, you take down everything, hence the daily downtime.
And so it has been since the long long ago times, savy hunters & industrialists moving & hunting the most valuable of cargo, because “there’s no one around” 
Also removes the ability to DT tank (though I guess that didn’t happen that often).

Well that’s because we’ve just gotten used to it… but trust me, it’s a massive pita, especially when it occurs in the middle of your gaming session.

So…CCP knows that skipping downtime will cause several problems - the known problems are being ignored for now. This is an experiment to discover additional problems. With the existing code it is impossible to get rid of downtimes entirely, but we might be able to skip some of them…
Seems like a very odd priority to have.
How am I supposed to sneak through game camps now?
There was a time we had to scan down the Ice and “special” ore sites.
But then the gankers started whining that having to fit probe launchers and train skills was “waaaaa - too much effort - make all the ore/ice belts visible so we don’t have to put any effort into finding the miners”.
Imagine the ganker tears that would flow if they had to go back to scanning down the sites so they could do their cloaky camping/ganking, especially if it applied to all the asteroid belts as well.
It would make the biblical flood look like a summer shower by comparison !
Let me know if you would be interested in talking with me about system architecture that enables doing the reboots, patches, and even releases with zero customer(player) facing down time (possibly a few second pause). I’ve done this in a different industry. May need to work some numbers around a few items specific to the game, but I’m aware enough of the concepts including session transition, node clusters, data deadlock, data transition patterns, etc. to work through issues and figure out with you what it would take.
