Notice: Pirate FW standing defect fix coming next week may affect YOU! 🫵

Hello spacefriends,

While investigating faction warfare awoxing, we discovered a defect which meant some characters and corporations who had enlisted with pirate factions for Insurgency gameplay and whose standings to their chosen faction had fallen below -2.0 were not being removed from their factions as intended.

We are planning to deploy a fix for this early next week. Characters and Corporations below this threshold will receive a 24 hour warning via EVEmail after the fix is deployed and then removed if the standings shortfall has not been rectified by the following downtime.

Here’s a more dot pointy way of saying all that:

  • This only affects some characters and corporations enlisted with pirate faction warfare for Guristas or Angel Cartel. Empire militias are not affected.
  • There are currently some characters and corporations enlisted with Guristas and Angel Cartel whose standing has fallen below the -2.0 minimum requirement but have not been kicked as per game rules.
  • On Tuesday, July 1 we will deploy a patch which means those characters and corporations will now have their standings correctly recognized by the game.
  • Characters and corporations whose standing is too low to remain enlisted in their pirate faction will receive an EVEmail notifying them they have 24 hours to gain sufficient standings with their chosen faction.
  • If the characters/corporations do not fix their standings they will be kicked from their pirate militia at downtime on Wednesday, July 2.

If you are participating in Insurgencies for either the Guristas or Angel Cartel please take a moment to check if your Faction standing to your chosen faction is above -2.0. If not you can now get a head start on improving them before the defect is patched on Tuesday.

The -2.0 requirement will be for base or effective standing? Asking for a detail because FW is the only mechanic that interacts with the former.

Lets say my standing with gurista is -10.0 but my corps is +3.0. Am I going to be kicked? hopefully the answer is YES YES YES

Shouldnt get booted

Base standings as all FW. But soon it will be 0.0 like empire

Most of these characters and corporations should be alts and this can be solved if they hop into an alliance with positive standings, almost a non-issue.

Which has been in the code how long?

Care to quantify?

Suggestion? Those who are kicked need to get back to positive standings, not just above -2.0 to rejoin, don’t just accept the bare minimum, make the awoxing have actual consequences.

well the -2 is the base limit, just like 0.0 is for empire.. but starting at the end of summer all will be 0.0 afterwards.

Hello!
Thank you for taking time to read this.

As much as I cheer for this particular fix and how its currently being handled, I admit that i don’t think it’s enough.

As far as I can see, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but a whole alliance dedicated to FW can fully support awoxing while farming FW LP. I understand Eve Online is about taking risks out there and flying around, killing and playing as you please, but flying around as a new pilot and running into multiple whole alliances that are participating in blue-on-blue conflict only makes me come to the conclusion a very dark reality. ā€œI cannot even find trust amongst ā€˜friends’.ā€ Then I started learning more about how these alliances operate and how the community as a whole views them. As a brand-new pilot, let me tell you, it makes this game look hella tragic. And it makes it hard to hold onto hope.

As such i was suggested to make a suggestion here in forums. Mind you i have no idea how to use forums and this looks like the closest thread i found to it.

I don’t think this fix is enough, CCP Convict. Standing can be fixed through riding on the coattails of others whose whole job is to fix other pilots standings. And they rotate out once their reputation gets too low. My personal suggestion is a sort of ā€˜time out’ sequence much like how there is a ā€˜cloak defense’ when cloaking to defend against observatories or ā€˜invulnerability’ timers to protect pilots as they’re loading out of stations like Jita that are heavy camped. Instead, this is different where it effects people on a 3-tier level. Personal, Corporation, Alliance. A tally system of sorts. This is just throwing ideas out.

Individual: (Action done: killed X people in X amount of time [ per week maybe] / Consequences: Individual removed from faction warfare and warp is barred from entering faction sites for X amount of time)
ā€œYou’ve attacked multiple people of your and our standing fleets and as such the high ups have deemed you unfit to fight for our cause. You will have an opportunity in the future to join our cause once more after you’ve reflected on your actions.ā€

Corporation: (Actions done: Number of Personnel in corporation aligned to FW faction as killed / Aggressed X amount of people in X amount of time / Consequence: Whole Corporation removed from faction warfare and warp is barred from entering said faction sites for X period of time)
ā€œIt has come to our notice that your corporation, and your members, are not suited to fight alongside us or the rest of us. We are thus deeming you traitors to our cause and will remove the corporation and all members from our ranks till you have properly reflected on your actionsā€

Alliance: (Action Done: Number of Corporations in Alliance aligned to FW faction has killed / Aggressed X amount of people in X amount of time / Consequence: Whole alliance removed from faction warfare and warp is barred from entering said faction sites for X period of time)

Finally, Lastly, I believe that the ā€˜time out’ should be stackable much like how doing more and more cyno jumps makes the time go up, this should be treated much the same. The NPC factions SHOULD act much the same way as player run alliances and corporations where leadership would straight out remove you from the alliance/corporation and put you on a KOS list of a kind. I understand and I see that my suggestion leaves room for different kinds of abuse, but this is just a start to more dialogue to fix the overarching problem of Blue-on-Blue conflict that deters new players from even participating in faction warfare or for that matter, hesitant to join any player alliances to begin with.

Thank you very much for your time on reading this long message.

Holding positive standings at a personal level ( if everyone is personal, corporation and alliance standings will be too ) is an excellent idea. +1
