And so you want to eradicate one group, the rarer harder to find group. Ok.
How so?
Speaking of the mercenary thingā¦what ever happened to the thing years ago that CCP touted not only for the bounty office but the mercenary profession alsoā¦
Anybody know? (im not going to spend hours googling years ago for the concept CCP had)
Weāve consolidated out of necessity. Otherwise, we would be at each otherās throats all the time, competing for targets, space, and mercenary work. We fought each other all the time during the good old days.
Even as a tiny fuckshit corporation, we (YARN) made 12 figures in mercenary fees over our active periods. And groups like The Orphanage, Rebirth, Marmite, etc. would constantly fight each other as part of bigger jobs.
Nothing. CCP literally doesnāt give two shits about the one defining feature that could turn this game into a space cowboy simulator and make them billions. They want players to grind rocks and rats, make Hurricanes, and then pew-pew each other in big null-sec space battles, because thatās what sells the game through banner ads.
you misspelled profit.
Nope. When citadels landed you were already consolidating. You just took the opportunity to adapt and react faster. And then claimed that CCP āmade you consolidateā. What made you consolidate is the simple fact that itās more valuable to fight a weak target together than fight each against the other. Thatās just rationalizing the activity. Not necessity.
Nothing prevents them from doing so again. I mean each wardeccing group is open to wardec ā¦
Thats what weāve been talking about; catering to those who want a game where they can choose to be insulated from player interaction that could negatively impact them? Offering a No PvP flag to HS players who desire it?
If this isnt your vision, then Im not sure what it is, seemed that way from how youve been talking.
PVE flag with serious gameplay limitations - sure, I donāt see how it hurts someone. How it is āerradicatingā someone?
Especially since this players still valid targets for suicide ganking.
Open your eyes before claiming that something you donāt see does not exist.
that would allow you to undersatnd someone elseās ā¦ point of view
Its exactly the same kind of eradication of playstyle you were saying happened when wars were the old way; peoole leaving because they didnt like the game.
Dude, the players who wanted wardec immunity and got it have been asking for ganking reduction or immunity for years. These two issues go hand in hand and do nothing but reduce the dynamism and randomness of HS further.
Youāre not part of the ecosystem, and you wouldnāt understand. In your mind, itās all theory. You have no understanding of how ally-stacking, war structure cooldowns, and neutral assistance changes coalesced into a system that absolutely requires the attacking force to be untouchable.
In ages past, it was possible for a smaller force to fight a larger force by dictating terms of engagement with proper maneuvering, or falling back on skirmish tactics. This was possible as a means of direct aggression (e.g. someone hires my small corporation to go after a larger one, and we harass them by picking off stragglers), or in a defensive manner (e.g. a larger corporation goes after ours, but we still accomplish our objectives by using smaller, faster ships to kill targets right under their noses).
This isnāt possible today. A larger corporation comes in, shoots our structure, and then the war is over. Thereās no counter to that whatsoever, except to grow in size yourself. And thatās exactly what the players did. Profit has actually decreased due to the elimination of mercenary work, and a massive decrease in the target pool due to the structure requirement.
Not that youāll be convinced by any of this. Iām sure youāll have plenty of theories to impart on exactly why Iām wrong, despite never having done a single war yourself. Have at it.
We were consolidating because the ally system was already in place, and had a significant impact on the wardec ecosystem. During the first ten years of the game, before that was put into effect, there was no consolidation. In fact, most war groups flat-out didnāt want to be large because it was more profitable to be small, and those who wanted blanket wars joined the Privateers.
I havenāt picked the wrong game, I just donāt need anything from a corp. I donāt want what I do to reflect on one and I donāt want what they do to effect me. I also donāt need extra windows to close which is admittedly a small issue.
I have loads of friends in Eve, and only one or two in a corp I would think of joining. Iām fairly social actually and maybe even gregarious and cheerful, even (and sometimes especially to people who kill me).
The whole corporation thing doesnāt have to be part of Eve for everyone, this is software and as such it can be changed, being out of a corp would just mean less crap for me to mess with.
I love Eve, but needing to be in some sort of corporation seems unrealistic, no self respecting pirate is going to go down to their local tax office to get a business licence, in Eve they have to, even if they are a corporation of one.
In the long run it doesnāt matter much, my corporations have exactly nothing to do with what I do or how I do it, itās just a bit of overhead in terms of time.
Iāve even experimented with things like tax rates from zero to one hundred percent, all the tax does is stick isk in a wallet I donāt use. Iāve added alts, and in a couple of cases friends, but doing so changed nothing whatsoever other than occasionally someone talking in corp chat by accident.
As far as NPC taxes go I think they are sort of pointless, but I honestly have no idea what they are for other than CCP converting isk back into plex or something, and even that is a guess on my part, I havenāt a clue honestly.
The one thing I thought would be useful was corp hangers, I was wrong, they just make stuff harder for me to get at, or use. What I would love instead is a simple folder system in my normal hangers, cargo containers donāt work for the exact same reason.
I suppose if I could find a benefit I would want to be in a corporation but so far all it does is add button pushing.
I have done a lot of things in Eve, some I like and some I donāt, none of them, not mining, PvE, PvP, industry, exploration and so on needed anything a corp offersā¦ in fact I donāt know what they do offer other than an extra chat window and potential overhead or maybe a tax break.
I donāt think they should be removed, Iām just saying that being able to get out would be nice.
Ok, Im just not sure I buy that a 500 member group that makes at least enough to enjoy themselves and get content would change into 50 competing teams if simply broken down into Operational Units due to an enforced tax method.
But I certainly bow to your knowledge. Ive only ever decced as part of protection rackets and general extortion on threat of phantom beatings.
Most of them donāt like each other. Spend some time inside, and youāll understand. Itās extremely tribal.
Oh, one other thing, what is the X series of games? Iām unclear on what that is outside of skateboarding and stuff like that
That I dig.
Nods
Say no more, Rodders taps finger on side of nose
EvE without players.
And rather quite German, but charming in its way.
Meaning a stand alone game? Like non-networked?
yes
X-4: Foundations is the latest one I believe and as a stand alone EvE like solo player game its kinda of fun.
Edit: I purchased it off of GoG myself last year
We have current war rules for quite some time, I guess players who canāt play without shooting clueless carebears in highsec are long gone?
As for suicide ganking - I hope it never happen, because it looks like fair game mechanic to me and itās single time event for every given carebear.
