Is there any way to choose/ influence which NPC corp you become part of when you’re not in a player-run corp?

I feel this is a really important topic that deserves discussion and should stay on top of this section.
I personally believe NPC corps are the way of the future in eve. Why have a leader who only ends up adding tarriffs to your in-game work? A shelter corp with 0% tax is cool, but I believe giving back through a small tax is a great way to keep the crown corporations healthy.
