Null is too easy and generates too much isk, with too little reward. Here’s why;
Asset safety - you are in no danger of losing your stuff (unlike J-space).
Local - everyone just docks up when you enter system.
System size - many systems in null are many AU in size, sometimes hundreds; by the time you land everything has warped and docked up.
ISK generation - simply too much ISK is generated in null compared to any other space (despite it being less dangerous than WH)
It’s too easy to hold vast amounts of space (which is mostly empty or full of bots)
Ores - the best ores are in null, again this harks back to ISK generation
Anoms - the best anoms are in null, even better than J-space which is more dangerous
System effects - now you can have the benefits and effects of a WH, without being in a WH
Blobplay - set piece battles and fleets standing off; it’s like industrial era armies facing off and slowly walking towards one another. You’re literally in a fleet, press F1.
CSM control - due to null alliances having control of the CSM, null gets all the love whilst other areas are neglected. Ore spawning, system effects… I mean, come on.
Botting - it happens, we all know it does, but that needs to stop. Alliances are hoarding trillions and trillions.
I don’t blame the null players, they’ve been spoiled and believe that null is the end-game, be all and end all - and they believe the rhetoric and mantra. Null candidates also have control of the CSM, so everything is done for them at the detriment of the rest of the game.
I would urge anyone in null to make an alt and try other areas of gameplay - you’ll probably enjoy it more, especially if you get into a small gang pvp or wormhole pvp corp (although small gang is difficult because of the above reasons causing blobbing).
I know a few people that have left null alliances and joined low/wh corps and had a much better time, rather than being a “line member” and F1 monkey. They’ve actually experienced mechanics and tactics and much more engaging gameplay rather than 2 sides staring each other down across the distance and then shooting until one side eventually dies.
Null has a lot of design and system problems, and over the years they’ve compounded and got worse and worse because of increasing demands and pressure via the CSM, and the slow erosion of “risk vs reward” with the expectation that it should be safe.
How do you fix it;
Remove asset safety - it never used to exist, it doesn’t exist in WH’s. If you’re going on a break, evac your stuff or take the risk.
Remove local - it was never supposed to be an intel tool, but it is. Use the in-game systems such as probes and d-scan. Maybe even consider scouts/guards.
Remove system effects - they don’t need to be in the game. If you want effects, move to a WH. Why should null get to choose their own effects?
Have a set amount of CSM seats - eg; 10 null, 5 low, 5 wh and 2 hisec rather than allowing one group to dominate all seats. At least get a represntitive view of the game, rather than only from one source.
This would be a good start and would encourage more forethought, tactics and planning. The problem is that it will never be implemented because it will cause 90% of null to quit and CCP to go bankrupt due to subscription loss.
Many null players are more timid and more cautious than their highsec counterparts whom they frown upon and berate - but in reality, they’re the same or worse. Null has little to no risk, despite having the best assets and resouces in the game.
I know this has been a bit of a rant, but at the very least… remove local and have set/electable CSM seats by source/space.
False equivalency. Before structures, there were indestructible, conquerable outposts that worked to securely store your assets.
But if you want to get rid of Asset Safety in Null, I want to get rid of clones in W-Space.
Funny story here: During Blackout, it was the bots who adapted the quickest to the new situation. They started to use intel bots at chokepoint gates to see who comes into good ratting areas. Actual players, on the other hand, were left to their devices and quit null sec so much so that even the PVPers started to lament the lack of targets after a few weeks. It was a hilarious spectale from these whiner PVPers.
That’s a cool story and great. More people in different groups means more interactions and conflicts. Instead of turning Null sec into the same wasteland that W-space is, how about these “pro PVPers” and “people who like the other side so much more” come to Null more often and make it more dangerous?
The highsec carebear living in the most boring of areas protected by NPCs with space magic is going to complain about being bored because Alliance players keep their industry players safe and protected?
You said right there you were bored and you hate null.
When you combine this with your other comment that you hate null, and combined with your general negative attitude towards everything Eve, you give the implication that you’re also complaining about this.
Maybe stop and think about what you posted before accusing someone of not understanding it
I did hate null. I lived there in a small corp. I did not enjoy it.
It was in response to this said by you:
I live in High Sec because it’s more fun. Null in a big alliance protecting you every single day is null on easy mode. That was the topic post. I live in High Sec because I choose to. I pay my sub and so I will play this game exactly how I want to play it. Apologies, but you’re just not important enough to me to have me go back to something I don’t enjoy.
You should learn basic comprehension. It will help you in the long run. Ask an adult to help you.
I hate null for the same reasons, because it’s Eve on easy mode.
If you want to be a hypocrite and complain about those things that make null boring, from highsec where what you say makes null boring are coded into the game, then don’t be surprised if no one values your opinion, or points out your hypocrisy.
I was not being a hypocrite. I said nothing hypocritical. What I said about me living in null had nothing to do with the topic of this post. It had to do with what you said. If you’re not evolved enough to comprehend that, then that’s a YOU problem.
So, I guess with all the null rage and being accused of being an AI and HS carebear without any evidence, a nerve was touched and some jimmies got rustled - because it’s true and valid.
Also, lol at the “post with your main”… what is this, 2007 Crime and Punishment?
