I see the appeal and I’m always open to change, but this feels too heavy handed.
IMO:
Cooldowns should be half of what it is (both types of modules)
Active time should be doubled or even tripled (both types of modules)
Warp Core Stabz should have a larger variance of warp strength increase between the different levels of modules. For example: t1=2-3 strength, t2=4 strength, and factions differ between 5-6 strength. We all know that botters use stabz in their ships and they need to be dealt with but this will also screw over the casual player who hauls stuff around eve in hisec and lowsec. I dont feel like they should be punished this much just to deal with the botting ratters. By doing it this way you reduce the badwill you might create with the casual player base who are not botting and just playing the game on a small scale.
You created alot of goodwill with the recent autopilot changes. Dont ruin it with this update the way it is now.
Let’s forget about travel , let’s say I am exploring in WH or HS
I am already pressing V (d-scan) like a mad man, the moment I watch probe or a Suspicious ship in 5 AU or less, I am out warping away. I fit 3 WCS in my Astero just in case some try to scram me.
It same thing when I am in a POCO. I am pressing V (d-scan) and I already pre-aligned to the Station just in case some land on me.
What is so wrong with that ?.
“Is just a button, what are so upset about, are you upset for just one extra click ?”
HELL YEAH AM UPSET!! This is Eve and seconds matter.
Why give sooooo much advantage to gankers ?
Why not increase the difficulty of their game? They already cause a lot of trouble in all HightSec
You do realize I am not PVP savy , I am an inexperienced player, they have years of experience.
They have all the advantages, the rules of engagements are defined by gankers.
And to be honest, if CODE is going to gank me fine. But why make it so easy? If these changes proceed I won’t be around to boost their stupid Killboard
This is straight stupid. I mean just dumb. Who cares about nullified shuttles except for people who like shooting fish in a barrel, you are giving passive nullification to that and taking it away from T3C’s who have an already nerfed nullified subsystem? And taking it away from paper thin cepters but allowing T1 cruisers to get nullified bonuses. As a solo explorer I don’t PVP a lot but when I do launch a bubble I don’t want just any ship to be able to activate a module and jump out of my interdiction bubble.
This is beyond stupid. I’ve never threatened to quit over a patch but taking away T3C capabilities and adding it to T1 frigates… Straight dumb. How the hell did anyone think this was a good idea. Dictors exist for a reason…
Currently ships can have a whole range of warp core strengths; 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. (until the low slots are full). This means that a tackle ship has to make a decision based on how many warp core stabilizers they expect their target to have, and the target can anticipate this and skip an inertial stabilizer or another useful module for yet another warp core stabilizer. I wish to keep that arms race.
The current implementation of warp core stabilizers puts a hard limit to the minimum and maximum of warp core strength a ship can have. It’s either 0 or 3. That’s boring and predictable.
I would like there to be other options too. For example a warp core strength of 2 by using a meta module with lesser penalties, or a warp core strength of 4 by using a more expensive faction warp core stabilizer.
Tackle already has a lot of options to get various amounts of warp core disruption strength with two module slots depending on their fit and how much they’re willing to pay for faction modules (point = 1, scram = 2, faction scram = 3, point + scram = 3, point + faction scram = 4, double scam = 4, scram + faction scram = 5, etc.) and I would like warp core stabilizers to also keep different strength options so players can make meaningful choices when fitting warp core stabilizers to their ship.
Which still loses to the 3 points people are planning for, so i’m not sure what you think having less than the maximum is going to offer, people are going to assume 4 and just fit double scrams or a HIC infinipoint, a 4 point version would end up too expensive to put on anything less than a blingy ship at which point the penalties are probably going to gimp the ship in to the gutter
Not everyone uses 3 points, just like some people these days only use a warp disruptor I expect this to happen after the change as well. And if I can use a meta warp core stabilizer for only +2 strength but with lesser penalties, that would be a valid choice to make for some playstyles.
Interesting fit. A few remarks:
It will still die to smartbomb camps as it doesn’t have a lot of EHP (and I expect smartbomb camps to become more common when everyone is flying shuttles around!)
Nullified, warp core stabbed or burst jammer - you can only activate 2 of them with max skills as the Astero doesn’t have enough cap for all three
A shame to fly an Astero that can only use one drone. Imagine getting tackled by a Helios and losing.
Your not familiar with explo asteros that literally dont even use drones when they get caught are you?you can replace the rigs with more tank if your are really the kind of guy that doesn’t use pings to avoid smartbombs
YES! T3D’s really need some love. They need to be the wormhole explo combat vessels they were meant to be instead of some half aborted project that has bonuses to fitting launchers, but not to using them. Right now, they scarcely deserve the T3 label despite the modes. They’re useless in wormholes, and that contradicts their lore origins.
At which point it doesn’t matter if you have 2 or 3 points, you still warp away, WCS’s are supposed to gimp you, so they won’t bother with a 2 point version because there wouldn’t end up being any benefit, yes i am aware you would like there to be a less gimped version, but if you don’t want to be gimped don’t fit stabs at all, i don’t
You forgot the part where burst jammers prevent you from being nullified in the first place, so that isn’t going to work at all
Right now people have the option to fit only one or two warp core strength, for lesser penalties. I would like that option to still be there after this change.
I understand the reason for the penalties to be there and I love that there now will be severe penalties to putting warp core stabs to ratting drone boats. But I still want players to have the option to have any different warp core strength than just 0 or 3. It just turns the warp core gameplay way too predictable when the options are this binary.
exactly the point, even ceptors die to SB gate camps, so a shuttle has no chance at all and for some reason the proponents of this change think it’s a good idea?
This has got to be one of the most telling aspects of CCPs obliviousness. The fact that the nullsec dominated CSM was in agreement with theses changes is evident enough that CCP is completely balancing the game by placating to nullsec pvpers. It’s like they learned nothing from blackout. When you make something so insane difficulty for harvesters / pvers… people quit. While the exact manner in which the nullification system is implemented upon launch leaves a plethora of information up in the air. The warp core stabilizer nerf is extremely damaging for a variety of reasons. The main reason being that a dual scram fit is the going to be absolutely standardized on all hunting fits. With this change, CCP has effectively turned all t1 industrial ships and all transport ships (blockade runners doing PI) and all mining in low sec ships into de-facto unable to escape hunters. Because this completely obvious factor was overlooked. I don’t want to tin foil too much but we are looking at a return of the vagabond with dual scram which will allow the hunter to lock down any of the above ships. This would not honestly be that much of a problem except for the fact that ccp has taken away the ability for people to fit there own ships as they see fit. They no longer have the option to make meaningful choices in fitting there hauling/ industrial options. The dual scram fit kills everything. Additionally, for ships like the gnosis or praxis in transit with a lot of low slots. The hunter is garunteed to always be able to catch the target with two pvp characters. The problem is the defenders lack of choice. There is literally no way to try to go about business if the opponent has 4 points. Honestly, I think the solution is a 4 strength faction varient. At least then the person has the option to protect there ships from what obviously will be the new standard roaming pvp fit. You can fit 2 points on a talwar or a corax. Even so I think the warp core stabilizer change, is bs and uncalled for, Even though I understand the stabbed ishtar problem, it really is not a problem. If you want to catch a stabbed ishtar get more points it’s fairly simple. We can clearly see that ccp is balancing the entire game by placating to the squeals of nullsec. Stabbed ishtars are not even a problem because null ratting has been nerfed into the ground. The economy is in a state of massive inflation as the value of isk plummets relative to items. CCP really underestimated the increased burden of adding tons of reactions to what were previously basic ships. All of these poverty patches combined with these nerfs to something that was totally fine show a complete disconnect to the player base. Aside for the ishtar change no one was asking for this and now t3s are completely and utterly worthless. They had a nieche role as a hunter but with the added difficulty of traversing behind enemy lines with the nullification changes, you can forget it.
