Odd graphics grid-issue Arc750

i have a odd “grid” on the screen at almost all times … that are vey evident on high contrast

the only PC that has this uses a Intel Arc A750 .. could this be the reason .. or some bad mix of settings?

I’ve never seen anything like this for EVE.

I would guess it’s an issue of your PC. Have you updated your graphics driver?

In the graphics settings on system (an icon in the tray called Intel something or other) look for Refresh Rate, see if it is set to 60MHz, if it is set higher (possibly 90 or 120), set it to 60.

Look for anything called “motion smoothing” or “fluid motion” and disable.

In EvE graphics, enable VSync, save, close and reopen the game client.

Let me know how you get on.

Unfortunately, Intel is leaving the discrete GPU market, having canceled all upcoming cards. You’re probably going to see more issues in the future as they stop making drivers.

could not really set anything rgarding refresh (windows babysitting i guess) … had to force reload the drivers to make that work. (why is it always a fight with windows?)

  • the new software (same driver) now has “v-sync” instead of the fancy wording it used before .. enabled that
  • variable refresh is disabled
  • eve client v-sync turned ON (was off)

and BOOM no more grid, thanks alot!

pretty sure the skin is more shiny too

but when i undocked to check, the rendering did freeze twice with just one client running. that did never happen before even with like 7 toons doing random things.

but we moving in the right direction …

well so far .. last driver is just 9 days old -knock on wood-

even worse, there is no official statement on when they going to stop making updates to the software.

Any progress is good.

I reckon to eek out any more performance you’ll want to have a look around in the EvE graphical settings.

These settings are strange to me (and I am a game developer so I’ve used and made these settings many times).

For starters, your instinct is to drop everything down to LOW, but I’ve found that performance can actually take a hit in doing this. I lose 10 FPS if I set Shaders to LOW, for example.

I have (on steam deck)

DirectX 11 (not 12)

Anti Aliasing Med (disabled)

Post Processing Med (low)

Shader Quality High (med)

Texture Quality Med (low)

LOD Quality Med (low)

Shadow Quality High (low)

Ambient Occlusion Med (low)

Volumetric Effects Quality Med (low)

Reflections High (low)

Effects:

Turrets and Launchers True (false)

Effects True (false)

Missile Effects True (false)

Explosions True (false)

Drone Models True (false)

Trails False (false)

GPU Particles True (false)

Asteroid Environments, Inspace Skinning and DOF all false (false)

Character display:

Low Quality Characters

Texture Quality Low

… Settings above are my settings values with a recommendation for you in brackets

i.e. Turrets and Launchers True (false)

Try those to start off with tweaking down or up as necessary, do this in a safe spot in space, as that’s where you’re focusing on improving performance, running at 60 FPS is useless if it’s only 60 in a station!
