That is incorrect. I can provide you with a zip file of the chat logs if you like to verify.
EDIT: In my 25 days as a new player, according to said chatlogs, I have been in Rookiechat 51 times. Out of those 51 times I helped a player at least once 33 times. You on the other hand have only spoken 7 times within those 25 days.
A request to keep to Q & A can happen as low as two or three times in any given time period. That makes it extremely likely to do more helpful deeds as a result.
No, just Scourge Fury missiles. I used to wait until I had a lock before firing. But I found that you can hit F1 while the system is trying to lockā¦and as long as you are still within that missile cycle the missile will fire when the lock happens. This is now my new methodā¦it worksā¦so I actually hit F1 before locking on target.
Players found channels to make human connections in, have conversations, joke, raz each other. Then snowflakes started mass reporting people and those places are now being hammered by hazard and friends.
As long as weak people prefer to control others instead of themselves, no general chat will be safe for unsafe communication. This game depends on social diversity, but the few will always ruin everything they can. Unfortunately, as ccp tries to go more mainstream and new player friendly, everything else will be pushed out. Itās highly doubtful they will ever make a general channel, and any player attempted ones have the massive disadvantage of having players with bias capable of controlling chat.
Outside of terrorism, threats and doxxing, there really should not be limits on people being able to communicate with people. Trolls are part of the internet. Block exists.
Maybe a little more cut-throat and a little less snowflake would do eve some good.
theres a block feature on social media too but some are willing to escalate fights rather than use it.
thats where moderation comes inā¦to put the breaks on it before it gets out of hand. I am cool with people razzing each otherbut there is such a thing getting out of hand and it ruins the experience for players who just want to chill and chat.
at a time where we need players to stay rather than go because we now have a bunch who pile on others because they are a pile of you know what, I think its time we start policing ourselves better and no that does not mean censorship. it means acting the way you should act in a real community and not like a tool.
ccp can track any player, across any number of accounts, emails and credit cards. They do this to vet isd/csm already. If they really wanted to oust the toxic players, they would. Especially the ones that make alts to get around block, mute and ban.
I recently had an experience with this. A player threatened to dox me with false information, which violates every form of rules and civility. CCP took action, but now that player has started using other alts to continue the bs. The rules prohibit that sort of toxicity, yet it isnt being enforced.
If ccp wont enforce rules that deal with safety and harassment, then why do they spend so much time enforcing chat control?
If we really want eve to remain and grow, players and ccp have to work together. Eve is the niche it is because of the cut-throat playerbase, as well as the free-for-all that is new eden. Nearly every form of ātoxicityā is completely allowed. No other game in existence can say the same. Even here on these forums, you see the bittervets complaining about every step being taken to become more friendly to the public.
It is not a sustainable model to push out the foundation to replace with a pile of sand.
all the more reason why we need moderation and more control in the channelsā¦because of what you went through.
anonymity is being used as an excuse to behave badly. I agree with you that ccp and the playerbase need to work together but part of that teamwork means taking care of our own content.
you canāt have a clean safe community for example if each of us donāt take care of the trash in our backyards. A community starts with each of us.
ccp wont give us the tools to take out our own trash. For example, block isnt a 2 way street. It should be, at the very least. An actual general chat without the same rules as other channels would also be a necessity.
pretty much and I know it has been through rougher patches than the retriever mess. I was around during incarna and thought that was gonna be the death blow to finish the game but it is still here.
best to do is live it day by day and hope for the best.
Jeez guysā¦ i didnāt make this post for such negativity. this is an advertisement for my channel.
Every mmo i have played has a global chat room so i wanted the same in the game. could you guys please keep it civil?
calling each other stupid for example.
I donāt have control over you or what you say just pleaseā¦
Btw guys, someone tried to make a playermade channel now. Guess how long it survived. Not even a week and suddenly people were banned from it for no reason. But yes!!! A playermade channel is the way!!!
Unfortunately, CCPās courting of the ācriminal classā of the gaming community years ago makes this really hard. I donāt regret them doing it, itās what made Eve unique and beautiful. I also donāt mean like, actual illegal activity criminals, but the type of players who like to create chaos for chaos sake.
I tend to be pretty much a staunch free speech person and very much liberty minded. Itās how Iāve run my writing community for years. But even I have lines that I just donāt tolerate peopleās BS from. Some of those the majority of people would agree are justified, but others would see it as a means to delegitimize any channel that a guy with my particular views on running would try to run, or just an opportunity to cause problems, play victim, instigate drama, because thatās just what some people are.
Itās really, really difficult to do, especially in this age of keyboard warriorship.
