on ubuntu :
updating crashed
created a new profile
Had to apt install winbind
created a new wine prefix
using wineconsole instead of wine else it crashes.
added some lib in it (winetricks msdelta)
then launcher started. Added the accounts, added them all to the same profile (âmyprofileâ)
Then started to log in each (was painfully slow but suceeded) . Searched for .dat in the new prefix and old one.
Then linked the old core_user .dat (cp -l )
And copied the core_char.dat
I found all my old settings again.
Iâm here trying tindigure out how to make it work. I was a happy Linux player yesterday. Now all I get is a big âEveâ logo and then I have to kill the process.
So, I have one questionâŚhow do i go back to the old launcher. This new one is a pile of crap. I have two accounts which I run on separate screens. The two screens are different resolutions so, every time i launch my group it automatically opens the two accounts on one screen and it means i spent a couple of minutes resizing and repositioning my open in game tabs and itâs actually making me really pissed offâŚ
remove dxvk (all overrides), winetricks msdelta , apt install winbind, replace âwineâ call by âwineconsoleâ
I personally did create a new prefix and copied/linked the settings to it and it worked. Canât make my old prefix to work though.
I managed to get the launcher working via steam again by uninstalling and re-installing. However like Lou Lingg said, all my settings are reverted. Additionally, Iâve noticed the graphics now appear to be very broken. Look at the picture of my ship now below, and inside the station:
Going to try and fix it by using high DPI and downloading the full game. Will post back with results in case anyone else has this problem post-uprade (note: I am using a widescreen monitor)
UPDATE: DPI and full game download was nothing to do with it. I realised I put the following launch options in when trying to troubleshoot another issue, and forgot to remove them again:
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Removing these launch options solved the problem.
My operating system work thanks. No idea why you would reply so abruptly with a comment displaying your lack of knowledge. Weird, confrontational, and silly. Just because your upgrade worked, doesnât mean every user works, cmon this is basic knowledge of any upgrade.
So, now that the new launcher has forced itself on my system as wellâŚ
(interesting legal "interpretation of the term âopt-inâ that you used in the announcement btw)
Why exactly does every single account in my launcher have a Vanguard toon attached to it, including the 15 alpha accounts that arenât even entitled to play Vanguard ?
On a side note, fire whoever is responsible for the mobile app design of the launcher. It looked far better during early beta, when it didnât have that ugly design.
UmâŚis it just me who is getting the new launcher launching in Russian for some reason?
It takes system language by default, regardless of which language the old launcher was set to.
Insane. My settings are GONE, canât even find the folder anymore. WTF?
Not the case. You have to hold until the green check shows up, then release.
anyone know how I migrate my old settings to this awful new launcher?
I copied the whole folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\ etc before the update, as I have done many times now since I started in 2014 and have had several new PCs in that time I have needed to move my old UI settings onto, but now when I copy paste my old folder over the new one and log in it ignores the old one and just makes a new one, but with a long __ instead of a short _
in the folder C:\Users*****\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_eve_sharedcache_tq_tranquility there are 3 more folders
Cache
Settings_c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility (this is my old settings copied in)
Settings_Deffault
In the launcher I select the user profile (x86) which is my newly copied over folder but when I login the UI is not my old UI but every time its the default one.
Any pointers or do I need to do something different ith this launcher?
Also, how do I delete a profile? In the launcher the account settings where you have chose profile and a box that says start typing to create a profile, well in all this messing about I have typed in a profile name that I want to delete from the options.
Well that was a lie!
All my in game settings got reset - GG
Cause I have an install on a PC that only has English language installed with NZ as the default location and something is âUsing my locationâ tho the launcher comes up in Japanese !
Sure the character has Some Anglicized Japanese in their name so maybe that was all it needed to bring things up in Japanese?
Nani ?!
find your core_user and core_char .dat files from the previous install
Find where they are stored in the new install
Replace the old by the new.
done.
Whereas in the old Launcher, we were given details of current training times, the new one appears to omit this, which will require going through every character on every account every day to monitor this, or lese keeping a paper record.
Or have I missed something, a covert setting, or a hidden screen ?
Please advise
I ended up having to go into the Launcher Settings then Tools and Cache and use the Look For Profiles.
Then on the clients go to Account Settings and select the right profile for each client and check it kept that setting and start the client up.
that didnt go well my accounts dont work
my account doesnât even want to allow me to log in, good job CCP
