One Missile to Replace Them All

I want to see battleship fleet fights. Im so tired of this kiting meta and want some brawls.

I agree with you, battleships are hella-fun to fly. I too dislike kiting… I can see the appeal others enjoy, it’s just not for me.

Battleship fleet fights do happen in nullsov, because there are titan bridge networks that get them from A to B a LOT faster than gating (which is a fucking nightmare to do in anything other than a mach).

At that level though, they’re pretty much all alpha fleets… you square off 40-60km away from each other and everyone waits for the FC to call for F1. Anyone who shoots early gets yelled at, and on one particularly enjoyable occasion, we had a little blue-on-blue action after one dude had the audacity to talk back to the FC after being called out (the typical “I pay for my own account, so fuck you” argument). It’s an incredibly boring doctrine though.

I can picture my idea of ultimate fleet. Each fleet would consist of a core of a few battleships, more battlecruisers, and destroyers for escort. Each fleet would have a wing of assault frigates and HACs, with the AFs tackling stuff for the HACs to chew on. The core fleet would either be trying to maintain distance if fit for range, or close the distance if they’re brawling fit.

So sexy in my head… Retributions, Zealots, blaster Megas, and 'fessors. Of course with logistics and significant ewar support. Each a cog on its own in a giant clock of destruction. Basically, pick a movie with an epic fleet fight in it.

Of course it would never work in game, the mechanics don’t reward it.

When things get hairy, my Militia brings together a Machariel fleet. We do not use this fleet often, but in about 2 years our Machariel fleet has never been defeated in combat before. It’s a very fun comp to fly. A couple weeks ago we had about 79 Machariels in fleet and were just tearing through FAXes and Maelstroms, even to the point that we split guns into two stacks and were killing 2 Maels at a time.
