I’m coming here because the regular support channels are simply not helping me. I regularly buy stuff in the eveonline store like plex or skill packs or game time. I am having issues with the store and particularly the payment by credit card.
Support isn’t helping me. They do one of
Talk down to me and say it’s a problem with my bank (and I had hard conversations with my bank and they assured me it was not on their end) or
Evade the problem and say use PayPal (which I don’t want to do because of my own reasons and because the store says it accepts MasterCard)
Ignore my request completely or
Give me some Plex and say they wish they could help me and they can’t promise if and when it will be fixed
So the problem is when I pay with the EXACT SAME CARD DETAILS, the website will do one of the following
In rare circumstances, accept the payment
In most circumstances, say the transaction can’t be completed because the bank says there is not enough money available (this is false, I know there is enough money)
In some circumstances, say they can’t accept “this kind of card” the EXACT SAME CARD that I’ve been using for years now in their store without any problems
I am just perplexed because I use this card without any problems on close to a hundred websites all over the world (also the UK) and I don’t get this weird behavior. Why does CCP not immediately fix any reported buggy POS logic? Why does every website I use not have problems like this but CCP seems to accept the eveonline store does?
If people can’t pay you, your business stops. Anyone with business sense should realize this and the buggy payment logic should be fixed as priority #1. My tickets are 2-3 months old and now they are not even replying to me. It doesn’t make sense. Hopefully a CSM member can talk some urgency into CCP.
Anyone, please help fix this
(POS here refers to point of sale, not whatever it means in New Eden)
They don’t talk down to us, you might had an automatic response during the night.
On the other had the payment processing is not bugged here from AU and actually is why today I felt the need to remove my card as I drink and sometimes it makes me do stuff
Processing is not an issue but that doesn’t help your situation.
Sorry Felix I did not explain well. Eveonline support sent me on a wild goose chase making me actually go have an argument with my bank about why they were not allowing the transaction because of either it being in another country or not being enough funds. CCP should not be telling players that the bank is at fault when it’s not. They cannot make customers a ping pong ball like this.
and yes there were automated responses which weren’t helpful but I can understand that. But the humans talking down to me 3 times afterwards insisting that the bank was at fault is not ok
The downside I had found in the past with using PayPal I had found the currency conversion was not the best option so I decided to obtain an online bank account with a debit card.
There are many options for processing payment.
Perhaps not a physical bank branch but one if those online banks.
I actually do not want to use my credit card without a middleman like PayPal and Steam. I do not want an online company like CCP or Amazon to be able to withdraw from my account automatically because I am a bit paranoid. I prefer to have as many paper trails as possible in the form on online and email receipts so if there is a problem ( and there were ) I have all the proof necessary to argue my position and not get talked down to by some schmuck who doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about.
Been using PayPal for over 15 years now. I have never never ever had a problem with them…ever.
It costs more after fees, payment processing and a garbage exchange rate.
Credit card transactions ( depending on jurisdiction ) usually enjoy some protections by the bank, if there is something screwy ( at least in my country ) you have a right to dispute the change up to 90 days after the fact. That is why CC transactions often have a % surcharge and usually a 2x charge for AMEX.
I actually go to the store and buy steam cards with cash. I can then use that credit to buy stuff from the CCP store, or other steam goodies.
Most of the time its been cheaper to buy items from the AU steam store, than from the CCP store, even with the cooked AU exchange rate. For example, the cost of a 12 month sub in AU dollars via steam is less than the cost of a 12 month sub in US dollars via steam, even after factoring in currency conversion. I once bought a sub during a %15 sale, only for the dollar to tank a month later, even at a 25% sale it was cheaper to buy doing the %15 sale a month before. Its always very quick to go up, but very slow to go down. I am pretty sure I saw a story about Poland getting right royally screwed in the steam store and Turkish players now have to pay double due to an anti-US currency law.
Sadly, even though credit card transactions do have inherent protections, I recall a CCP support page that basically says that you will be locked out of your account if you do end up disputing a purchase, I assume it would be the same for paypal.
I am a long way from the EU, but bless you guys for doing something about the walled gardens of tech. I am counting on ya’ll to get a spyware free Windows 11.
I don’t work for Microsoft and I have news for you: if you’re using any kind of tech today chances are all your info is already compromised one way or another.
This is my 30th time sending a message here and in other places attempting to raise awareness for
Flawless processing of credit card payments being essential priority #1 for any company doing business on the internet claiming, as EVE Online does, that it accepts credit cards;
EVE Online’s store does not process credit card payments flawlessly in fact it is giving INCORRECT ERRORS about the bank not allowing the transaction and INCONSISTENT NOTIFICATIONS about the same card being accepted on some days on some accounts and not on others;
The EVE Online support is pushing players like myself to have arguments with their bank why they are not allowing the transactions on the credit cards and these arguments waste player’s valuable time and lead nowhere because the bank is not at fault;
There does not seem to be an urgency from EVE Online support to fix this or to work with players to troubleshoot the problem (in my case, I’ve been having discussions in EVE’s support channel since March)
This situation is obviously horrible and I appeal to anyone who is able to influence action at CCP to urgently take up this matter

This is my experience as well with all other sites, but the eveonline store is not behaving correctly which is why I am continuing to rant until someone at CCP takes this seriously. The eveonline store logs me in to other accounts at the payment phase (regardless of the account I was logged in to when I put items in my basket), and behaves inconsistently and incorrectly when it comes to credit card processing. So even if you would think that 100% certaintly should exist when clicking buy on a store item, as you write, the eveonline store does not give this certainty. This is why there is a big problem that it has to urgently address. And I seem to be the only one making noise about it, which should not be a task that falls on my shoulders.
