Pando is a great guy who has alot of solid ideas for a more vibrant game with more avenues of content, I hope we both get the opportunity to work together in CSM21
Hope it works out for both of us ![]()
Hello @Pandoralica, what about this?
- The connection between EVE Online and EVE Vanguard
Do you have any expectations what that could be, how it could work? I am aware there is nothing tangible yet, but it’s rather inevitable if I red FC correctly.
It’s a tricky question cause on one hand i would love a good shooter that i could play and impact my game (eve) with. And that connection should then be impactful enough to not feel like a gimmick.
On the other hand i don’t want a bad shooter to impact the game i love and mess with stuff that doesn’t need messing with.
So if we assume Vanguard becomes a success and is fun then I’m all for a proper connection like impact on PI or moon ownerships or the likes. I wouldn’t go as far as it having an impact on sov however.
I’ve known Pando for a long time through INIT and Imperium , and having spent years FCing myself, I’ve always had a lot of respect for what he’s brought to the game.
What stands out to me isn’t just his experience or the crazy things he’s pulled off over the years, but the fact that he’s still out there, undocking, experimenting and finding ways to create content for people.
We don’t always have to agree on everything, but I know he genuinely cares about EVE and understands what makes this game worth playing.
Glad to see you giving the CSM another shot, mate. You’ve got my vote and full support. Sheeshin dude.
Thanks for the very nice comment my dude ![]()
Pando is active in game, runs fleets, runs small gangs, runs mid gangs, and runs large gangs. he brings a wealth of experience, and a cool head. the consummate cool dude. natural +1 for csm.
As a friend or as a foe, Pando has always been a great sport. His knowledge, passion, but also fairness and balance is what would make a great return as CSM rep.
Thanks for the kind words!
How do you feel about effort required to assemble a BS and above ships versus heatshoting a production facility? This would be just another step to deter smaller industrialists from doing anything complicated. As a member of 1 of 3 current empires, how do you imagine this would be effective?
If i understood you correctly: You want there to be less risk and effort for a single player to build caps.
I don’t think we need less risk for small industrialists but more risk for big ones. That would however require a balance in build cost (i dont want more expensive caps).
However I’m not a industralist and like i promised in the original post, i won’t pretend to know what i don’t. So maybe I’m the wrong guy to answer your question.
Cool, can go with that. Wouldn’t mind Eve going back to the no mercy mode.
Whats your opinion on mass-Alphas that aren’t really used to “explore the game” or “take part while in financial trouble” but as free Alts (talking about dozens or hundreds in some cases) of regular players to multiply force/presence/income/control etc. pp. without any maintenance cost..?
Do you see a “Problem”? Would you advise CCP to be more restrictive with the power Alphas have?
Beside the use of drifter scouting which they adressed by removing the drifter whs from overview (and buffing drifter whs that way technically) i don’t really see many cases of alpha abuse. Perhaps alpha armies at home in case your alliance is deployed (not sure i see that as a massive problem).
Got an example of what people are doing right now with hundreds of alphas?
-
Alpha Armies as you mentioned. Not just at your own home for defense. But for all kind of purpose. Harassment, Seeding, Scouting, Rolling, Combat. If I would go into detail what some groups are doing, I’d have to write a 4 page essay… and violate some “NDAs” on leadership level :).
Lets just say: If you have enough active people in your group, 1 Alpha online per person is more than enough to get a lot of things done, anonymeously and maintenance free, not even binding your Omega chars. -
Structure Management / AltCorp Management. Reddit ← not sure if thats fake or true, but it’s surely doable if someone would want to do it excessively. I personally have an own altcorp managing multiple structures, unrelated to my main accounts… totally free. I don’t do it with 200 Alts, but I know people maintaining several dozens at least.
But, the details really isn’t the point. The point is that “multiplying your presence for free” isn’t what Alphas were made for, still they are used for that. Large scale. If it really causes noticable problems ingame is surely debatable. I personally feel, Alpha-Alts have become a real pest, an absolute common way of further multilying altchar-gameplay, maintenance free. And I feel this whole direction is hurtful for the games health. Alphas could still “explore the game” and “take part while in financial trouble” even if they could do a lot less things they currently can do.
Yeah the game would be better off without these exploits but not sure i see and easy way to combat this behavior sadly. Perhaps if all chars were bundled under one account instead of spread out you could limit it to either or and you can sup x amount of chars and thats the amount you can log on simultanously? Something in that direction would be required to even think of removing these things.
Other than removing alphas themselves of course which i wouldn’t be a fan of.
