I guess we will see how CCP operates without the financial safety net?
Ladies and Gentlemen! If you look at the center ring, we now present the CEO of CCP and his team of high flying acrobats! Not only will they be operating without a net, the trapezes bars are well oiled, and their cables set on fire!
so you’re not playing eve but still making demands concerning this video game?
Why? You dont want new players to be able to skill faster?
There is no pay to win in eve online. You can spend 28,000 USD and get all the skills in game and still not know how to fly your ship and get blapped by someone that knows how to play.
I agree with part of this. Botting is rampant through highsec as well. Why the focus on null, when the problem is everywhere?
I think they have, since it doesnt matter how much money you spend, how many alts you pay for, you will never have a huge impact on your own. There is nothing you can buy that will allow you to “win” in any meaningful way.
Plex itself is the closest thing since you can keep buying plex to afford replacing whatever you lost. The only repurcussions are to your own wallet.
As a non-player, why would your demands be considered even if they werent misguided and misinformed?
Because CCP is a for profit company. Companies want to grow, to expand. Video game companies want multiple games with dedicated player bases.
Relying on eve as their only content will eventually see to the entire company dying when eve dies. Make no mistake, eve will eventually die. The people that started playing eve as teens are middle age now. The people that were middle age when eve came out are at or close to retirement age.
Eventually people die. When the backbone of the income for this game dies off, this game dies off. I am willing to bet there are more alpha players now than ever before. Alpha only takes, they do not give. No company can survive on players not spending money.
Just a reminder to all, more EVE development means less sandbox and more themepark. More focus on EVE means more rapid changes and more points of error. The more hands messing with the code, the more likely it will be buggy. I’m fine with CCP spending profits on other games, not only is it a smart business decision, but it helps keep what makes EVE, stay like EVE. Some change is good, but asking for more change? Not my cup of tea. I would like to see more frequent lore updates and more players, but that’s the only place I think EVE Online needs expansion on, not more game devs.
Yes, blowing money on half a dozen failed other games ( current one soon to be added to the flop pile ) has really been a smart business decision for CCP. roflmao
I agree to some of that Malak. Where I disagree is that I think eve needs more jarring events like the trig invasion. I am not lying when I say I think its great that even 5 years later people are feeling the impact from the story that players got to decide. I think it is absolutely fantastic storytelling.
With that, I also suggest to all the people breaking their souls trying to catch up to long time players, stop. Take it slow. build, save, set yourself a foundation that is solid enough that in 5-10 years you can be the person all the new people are wishing they could catch up with.
Help this game continue for decades more. Become part of the legends that have shaped this game, community and has sparked countless articles from people that have never even played this game. We’re all in this together. Hate anyone you want, plan revenge, be an upstanding paladin. Whatever. Make it to fanfest at least once so you can realize even the people that hate each other in game are still enjoying themselves together, getting drunk together, bragging and plotting together. Find yourself in a real community. a community of highly intelligent nerds that share the same interest as you.
That one should be easy. They just need to roll back on all the things where they took out the sand from the sandbox and replaced it with concrete.
Those stupid tiericide things, specialized ships and cargoholds and all the fixed ways to do something.
All that gameplay was once emergent and i could choose what i would do with my eqipment by fitting it accordingly. Nowadays you have restricitions everywhere and also bonuses with ship roles, fixing everything into place that was once recognized as emergent behavior from the community.
There will no be any more emergent behavior and surprises like that in the future, because all is regulated and fixed down. The sandbox is dying further with each new playstyle fixed to a shipclass and lockdown of specific ways to do something.
I’m for this as well, but I know not everyone is, and there should be periods of stability mixed in. There are a lot of people who complain about the ‘sandbox’
So you wanted them to keep Iteron I-V, where only III,IV, and V were used based on your skill level?
You want the Domi, Typhoon, and Armageddon to be nerfed back down instead of being on equal footing with the Hyperion, Maelstrom, and Abaddon? (Caldari are a bit special here with the Scorpion being the odd one out)
Oh and BTW these changes happened before PA took over.
I want specialized ship classes, cargoholds and module fit restrictions gone. I want to be responsible for deciding the role of my ship by fitting it accordingly (within the limits of the overall hull parameters of course).
Wouldnt it be interesting if no ship had set roles like that, but in manufacturing them we could apply data cores that would allow us to decide? Would completely change the game and throw out every meta that exists currently.
That would be a change worth making, in my opinion.
Don’t ask for a roll back then, ask for those specific changes. If you liked that ships got buffed due to tiercide and ask for it to be gone…you are just shooting yourself in the foot.
As far as haulers go, all empires have a fast general cargo hold ship and a bigger/slower one that you can fiddle with. It’s mainly Gallente that got the specialized holds for their other 3 haulers (and the hoarder).
What I think we need is the return of the live event team. Remember back in the day when CCP would play the actual Sansha commander? When they interacted directly with ARC? When they would tell a story out of the game and then spawn things into the game to continue that story interactively with players? When CONCORD outright threatened a bunch of players with -10 sec status because they refused to hand over the remains of Hilen Tukoss? Oh, or when one of the Amarr succession tourney champions mouthed off and got podded in front of a massive audience for it?
