Photon UI - TQ Feedback Thread

Hi @CCP_Paragon,

Any chance you can give us an ETA on the restoration of chat blink? Currently, the only way to check for new messages in chat channels is to manually cycle through the various tabs.

I want to stick with Photon so I can find and report bugs, but the lack of chat blink makes my game play a bit tedious.

Looks good I think. However I canā€™t use it properly until the ā€œsell Itemsā€ window is fixed. At the moment the quantity and sale price item boxes are on top of each other and jumbled.

Theres wierd padding all along the edges of windows leading to awkward text fading when there is visually enough room for the text to complete. To me it looks like scroll bars are meant to be in the padded areas, but those are actually inside the padded area too

I like the look/feel of the new UI. It feels fresh and looks a little more attractive but ā€¦

So much wasted space.
Eve is as much a game of spaceships as it is of getting max info on screen. This new UI effectively forces windows to be bigger. With giant buttons and deadspace around the edges to boot.
If you add an option for small-smaller-smallest buttons and to reduce margin/border/padding on some/all windows thatā€™d be a great step.
If you add a way to change font sizes thatā€™s obvious and easy to access thatā€™d also be great.

I appreciate the attempt to unify things. Getting window options tucked into a simple menu thatā€™s easy to spot on every window. Just let us make stuff smaller, and make it clear that we can and how.

Another pair of images, btw, just to highlight my points about padding and presenting information. This is the same window between the 2 UIs. The two are exactly the same overall size. Old on the left, new on the right:

Immediately, the thicker frame at the top means the window has less space to convey the chat information that the window exists to convey.

Now, to focus in on another part of the chat window, the Member List of the windows are also exactly the same width. But look at this. Look at how much worse a job the new UI does at providing the customer with useful data:

And thatā€™s with small text selected.

i am missing the ā€œpreviewā€ tab in my settings. The column isnt just there.

Can you do that comparison again once compact mode can be tested? Because right now it looks like the old UI will be more compact than the new UIā€™s compact mode.

REDNES

planning to, yeah

Donā€™t like it (for what iā€™ve seen for now). First - at least for now almost everything is misplaced or unreadable. Second - in bright areas this UI is unusable. Also everything look so big. Didnā€™t try it on laptop, but Eveā€™s UI look bad on smaller screens and i found playing on laptop terrible experience.

The new UI sounds are horrible. Absolutely horrible. The constant buzzing and clicking and that horrible tinitus screeching sound when you close a windowā€¦ itā€™s just far too much.

What was wrong with the old sounds that we needed to change it?

As for the visual side of the UI, I think itā€™s on the right track. Initially it looks okay. But thereā€™s a lot of wasted space. Itā€™s also hard to distinguish between tabs or titles. So many things that are clickable donā€™t actually look like they are. Thereā€™s little outline between sections.

Someone say CCP to make work blink chats please!!! This is the only detail that I donā€™t like. this is the only reason i wonā€™t use the new interface.

I liked it, but chat channels werenā€™t blinking with activity, so switched back.

The new UI is a grid of dots

Hi

First look is ok.

  1. you lose a lot of space on the monitor
  2. Standing Tags in chats are huge now, but the + in the tag is tiny
  3. In Compact mode no price view
  4. everything is way too black
  5. Sales/Buy window, the buttons overlap
  6. much less space for important things in the windows
  7. Chat windows are now too big for everyone Windows
8 Undock Butten are to small and no coller or Corvette to big

Overall nice contrast but to many empty space ā€¦ i like it compact and more inforamtion compac modeā€¦ now les inforamtion and i need a biger Monito. (donā€™t want tis)

thx 4 work

Please give an option to have a opaque Neocom. Itā€™s currently always transparent.

Canā€™t see buttons in blue star systems (or any with bright backgrounds).

In the chat window, when you horizontally resize the member list, that sizing does not carry over to other chat tabs.

In my opinion, this is wrong. I think it should carry over or at least be an option to carry over.

It could get annoying resizing member lists for every tab.

They could remove local and just have regular channels and improved channel search feature.

Also the ability to completely remove the chat window.

Itā€™s not like AWS chat works reliably anyway. Just by putting it on AWS, theyā€™ve made local delayed :smirk:

im still trying it all out but my only current issue atm is that a lot of the chat window icons are way too big than they should have to be.

maybe reduce the status icons it 40-50% and have the name font adjustable as well, or at least reduce the font size of names by a few points.

oh and yeah as someone else mentioned the headers/tabs and other iconsā€¦ really just a bunch of oversized icons everywhere that need to be reduced a bit here and there would be great.

also the drop down icons in this are all jumble up lol

also, while this is adjustable, the smallest size alloed the 2 buttons to get in the way of the text box slightly. its not too much of a problem, but just thought itd be worth mentioning

i personally like that TBH

The scanner window is rather teal. Itā€™s slightly hard to distinguish the icons especially if you hover over them.

Also, side note. The scanner window still has the booster bug but I figure thatā€™ll never get fixed.

Anyway, screenshot
