Icons do not have fixed sizes for different things
Thatâs a nice anti-botting feature that coincidentally makes things more annoying for actual players.
Just had to switch it off, since all the controls (module icons, cargo icons etc.) disappeared after I undocked. Tried to dock-undock again, no luck. Switched back to classic UI and now it is back.
Greets. New UI doesnât properly space items when Display & Settings- UI Scaling is set to 90%, especially noticeable in the Fitting window. Browser, inventory, simulate, and attributes icons are all partially overlaid by the ship and modules graphic in the middle. Also, when you pick Inventory from the Neocom menu, filter boxes are not properly spaced/overlay each other.
The Photon UI has a nice look to it, but in generall, it gives me the feeling i dont have that much space anymore, and i even use 2 Screens for one single charackter. So for me the new UI is not a win
First of all - a good way and im happy to see more work on the Ui like on fanfest. Give us more space (closing windows to small buttons or pictures) and let us move everything whereever we want (star-system information).
What i found at 100% Scale and following settings:
1. Wallet
Wallet â Settings â âShow ISK Cents on Amountsâ - if you tick it, close the window and reopen it, it will not be acitvated and the tick is out.
its only on the photon not on the classic interface.
2. Mutaplasmid window
The âXâ to close the abyssal mutaplasmit window is missing and you can only close it by rightclick âcloseâ but thats not realy intuitive.
photon
classic
3. Stacking Windows
stacked windows the âcloseâ button is over âcopyâ when you rightclick - most windows the âcloseâ is on the bottom of the dropdown menu
photon
classic
4. Agency and Events
If you use the small flag down in the neocom ()for the actuall event, you get this site:
everything is overlapping. When you open the event-site directly in the agency , its loading but nothing happens.
5. Local
When you minimize the local-chat only to a small line (for local information in 0.0) you cant see if someone writes - maybe you could add a small number in the top of the window as OPTION! (we all know jita local ;D ) to show that someone has wrote in the chat (yes i tryed the âblink onâ option but it doesnt work on the smallest local):
something like that:

so you dont kill the social interaction part of the mmo
At this moment it looks nice, I especially like a uniform, consistent look of all UI elements: buttons, clickable areas etc. Good job!
But: please make window borders visible somehow. Now it is only an upper edge of a titlebar of a window, which is glowing. Left, right and bottom edges are blending with the background, this is not convenient.
Dear CCP!
I am about Photon UI - You know, I play EVE since 2007 and I will tell You that it is the best thing for last three Years You made!
I thing You only need to add different themes of this UI (or maybe You already have them, just I use only alpha accounts, so I do not see anothers).

Improvements have been made to try making the important buttons/features of different windows to stand out from the rest. I would suggest a slightly darker color for the icons or more opacity to them, cause in the lighter regions like in the amarr empire it can be difficult to see at first glance. Another issue for me is how monochrome all the buttons are. All having the same color, too bright too for me. Making little adjustments to the color of the button depending on the use of it would make them stand out more and better than the âlightâ effetct does. I still love how the UI feels more lightweight on the scene tho, good job.
Most people seem to be forgetting that this is a preview, and as such, every little pixel should probably not be investigated and reported on to the nth degree. Just saying.
I switched to and looked around at the new Photon UI. The direction this iteration is going is very nice. As everyone has already pointed out, there is a lot of room for improvement, and I would assume that most of the issues have already been added to the continuing list. I would like to make a suggestion however, for what itâs worth. I do like many of the ideas, and the colored title bar, etc. I would say that with just a little more color in certain places, you might be able to convey some information much better. While it is sometimes difficult to see the windows that are usually open when flying around or in combat, especially with some of the bright star areas, having some color will help catch your eye. Such as when you are mining and hoping that your mining lasers would go faster, and then it happens, 3-5 pirates pop in the area with you. But if you happened to glance away or look for something in your desk drawer, you might not notice the approaching doom. Using this just as a simple example, having a noise and flashing red on the screen would hopefully grab my attention so that I could quickly warp away to safety. Maybe with something imbedded into the overview or another window that hides when there are no alerts. The all black and white and grey current menu, it sometimes all blends together with no clear separation sometimes. Just the slightest color divider line in some windows and then highlight text or something like that might help. Thanks for the effort thus far.
Hi Devs!
Great job on the new UI, and yes it needs some work but it looks sharp so far. I noticed one small issue that needs correcting and that is the new mail UI crops the Subject field:
I also do agree with many previous posters that the big headers on most windows in the game can be reduced in size as screen space is limited.
Additionally i feel that the new skill plan interface need to provide the ability for players to display all skill plans in a much more condensed list and not the big my grandad special half the screen sized buttonsâŠmakes me feel old and senile having to press those, or rearrange my entire interface to be able to share it to corp or other chat windows (right click share to:) would be welcomed!
thanks
Khuni
I use my bookmarks all the time, but I keep them in a small window, which as you can see is now taken up by the big friendly buttons on the bottom, and the search bar at the top, leaving me with 2 bookmarks visible at a time. Could you reduce the size of the buttons (a lot) so that there is room for the actual bookmarks?
Thanks!
I tried the new UI. Please give us the option to keep the old UI when you implement this. This will be unpopular with some older players.
Trying the new version in 1440p. Some good bug improvements. Glad some of the wasted padding was removed, the 2 stacks of 5 chats fit now. The short bar for new messages is a nice addition; noticed it blinks, but easy to missâperhaps a few more seconds. Glad you kept the underlines-- absolutely necessary for these 50±year-old eyes. Same with overviewâclean and easy to ID which of the 7 tabs is at the front. Transparency still not working.
Keep up the good work, unless I find something major I canât live with will continue with this.
Yep noticed that as wellâŠhad to guess where it was, no box or line I could see.
Keep the tabs as wide as they ar on the original ui
Then donât minimize the local text box to the lowest possible size. No one needs the return of the red dot, especially not in chat boxes where simple and non-obnoxious tab blinking works way better than this ridiculously annoying and useless red counter. If you minimized the chat text box to 0, you donât want to see if someone types there. If you want to see âsocialâ interaction, you donât minimize a chatâs text box to 0.
The âsnap to small portraitsâ mode should remain as an option if you want to see chat scroll. Has CCP removed that?
Greetings,
A very short bit of feedback! Overall a great upgrade to the regular UI! the âblinkingâ of new messages in different chat windows could be a little bigger or more noticeable. Iâm a little hard of seeing, so Iâve missed some messages before because I canât see thereâs new messages in the window. Other than that, a great UI!
