Allow players to customise ships with the addition of objects.
Objects in this context would be 3D models that attach to ships.
These can be restricted to specific places, i.e. hard points, and can be restricted to only objects created or supplied in-game (as opposed to users uploading a Kraken from Turbo Squid)
Users would be eventually provided tools to build/edit/test such objects the same as SKINR exists.
Users would be restricted to objects within Ship Class - so that they cannot add an enormous object to a rifter etc.
Objects could include, but not necessarily limited to; A disco ball, a fluffy cloud, a chocolate dildo etc.
Objects would be decorative only, and would not provide buffs/penalties.
Since shape-shifting ships already cause issues with the latest tech wizardry CCP is not capable of implementing properly, I do not think we need more of that.
These physical ship additions are strictly practical and offensive and allow other players to clearly see what kind of weapon system another player is using, provided they are aware of these models and have the knowledge to recognise the objects.
About the addition of non-combat decorative additions: No thanks.
It would needlessly make rendering the game harder with all these additional rendered objects, and makes the game less clear for people who do look at the existing ship additions for a competitive advantage.
In fact, I can predict that people would probably try to hide some of their weapons using ‘disco balls’ or ‘fluffy clouds’ for a competitive advantage if that nonsense were possible.
You can play long enough with a Thorax while docked until you’ve given another ship a dildo hardpoint and come back with a screenshot! I’m sure that graphical bug is still around.
What for? Unless you’re a bridging Titan sitting on undock with a subcap fleet not a lot of people are gonna look at your ship. All these SKINs etc are invisible for all intents and purposes.
