Look if you need a hug, just ask nicely.
I would never publicly admit to playing EVE to a real life identity.
Well, that is not hard to disprove. The launcher has been an offensive ad ridden pile of garbage since they re wrote it in QT5. It needs a Potato Mode that just launches the damn game, not bombards with specials and reminders of events that remind of events in game, and squishing the launcher into a minimum 1x1 window does not count, since it should be something that is chosen, not something we are forced to do.
Is CCP looking to replace some of the NPC’s in high sec ?
Not quite. Elite (video game) - Wikipedia
I turn my head away in sheer and utter embarrassment at all this age-ist nonsense. It may have escaped your limited mental scope of attention that older people are the ones who actually invented the internet, computer games, and EVE itself. We don’t need lecturing from kids from whom anything 5 seconds past their pea brain’s temporal scope is ‘out of date’.
Not to make too fine a point of it, but I was playing computer games while you ‘under 40s’ were still in your nappies. Judging by the posts here…some of you still are.
Do you realize FB gets 3 BILLION daily users?
$189 Billion in revenue for 2025. Up $20 Billion from the previous year..
You can act like Facebook is irrelevant all you want. It’s bigger than ever.
Found the bluehair…
It may be big, but where I live it was ‘big’ like 18 years ago when everyone I knew had an account. That lasted a few years.
The past decade it’s only been used by people of the generation of my parents as far as I know.
Maybe other countries are different, but facebook really is an ‘old people’ thing here.
I had a facebook account long before it was a public social media platform.. When it was created it was to link college students to other students around the world IIRC.. So i guess i can say i had a FB account since at least 2007 or 8, maybe earlier
Key Demographics in France (Early-Mid 2025)
- Largest Group: Ages 25-34 (around 26-31% of users).
Facebook is hardly “boomer” central, if you know what a boomer actually is anyway.
That’s the reason I finally got an account on it. All my generation guys made that thing like a decade or more before I did. But it’s just a glorified chat room, in my opinion. I don’t see the appeal at all. We used it in college to pass on information related to classes. Right now I only use it to sell stuff. That’s all. I don’t post my private life details on it, and I find such behavior odd, to say the least. I don’t have a social media presence anywhere and I like it like that. You can obtain more information about who I am from EVE forums, than FB and the like.
Also – where I’m located everybody uses it, young or old. There is no significant age discrepancy among the users here with regards to age. I know that some companies even forward their work schedules to their employees through FB, so it’s pretty universal.
The graph you show actually shows that 57.2% of users is over 35 years old.
Which is likely close to the demographics of EVE players. I don’t like Facebook myself, (and I hate twitter) but I also don’t think that CCP should limit itself to a few media platforms. I’m not offended by the game trying to reach in more places.
How many of those in the younger groups are using it exclusively to text older relatives?
I use EvE Online to stay in touch with the old folks.
Facebooks is for grandparents to connect with their grandchildren.
Facebook is not a social network for online gaming enthusiasts.
You’re right, it is not. It is however a place that has ads, lots of them. I would rather see more gaming ads than political ones, and joining or liking, or whatever the social media platform has to show interest is how you get more palatable ads and not distasteful ones.
That’s all I use it for. I hate facebook. Not older relatives- I use it to keep in touch with people my age. They insist on it. I can’t stand it. I’m 52
Don’t you have phones? All the people I want to keep in touch with – I call them from time to time. And if it’s too weird to call someone, chances are they’re not the type of person you care to keep in touch with anyway.
I don’t understand those who have 100s of people on their ‘‘friends’’ list. It is absolutely certain they do not know all those people. Why keep them as some collectibles then? That’s one thing I detest about FB – people get on it just to collect ‘‘friends’’ there, not to interact. They don’t really interact with most of the names on that friends list. They just want to grow that number. It’s like a compulsion of some sort.
I think i probably have like 150 “friends” either acquaintences, friends, family, past/current clients.
This.
If I don’t call you and speak to you with my voice, you’re not a friend.
I use Fakebook for Marketplace, and almost nothing else. I recently had to use it to get into the Discord for the local Warhammer players, but the only thing they have posted on Facebook is the link to the Discord.
