It is my dream to get tachyons to work on a Abaddon for lvl 4 combat missions. Please link a fit, I dont care how slow or how many implants ill have to use. No isk limit.
Step 1: Get a Paladin.
Step 2: Outfit it with pulse lasers.
There are only a handful of missions where you need to shoot further than 110km, and pulse+scorch will do the job nicely for most. For everything else - fit a mJD.
thanks but I dont want to fly a paladin, it isnt about maximising isk, I just like the Abaddon.
Meta 4 tachs
Sorry, how does this help me?
Can anyone actuually help me with a fit?
Whats your Problem?
Use a full Genolution Impant Set.
Use further Implants for Capacitor Amount and Capacitor Recharge.
Fit all the Highs with Tachyon Beam Lasers.
Fit a Large Micro Jump Drive in the Meds.
Fit one Large Armor Repairer in the Lows.
Fit two Cap Rechargers in the Meds.
Fit Ancillary Current Routers in the Rigs.
Fit Reactor Controls in the lows until you have enough PG.
Fit the remaining low slots with Capacitor Power Relays until you have cap for like
8minutes.
Fit any other slot that is still free with Heat Sinks or Tracking Computers.
Apply Exile Booster.
Apply Drop Booster.
Apply Pyrolacea Booster.
Ship will still suck for PvE.
thank you
Abaddon.
Cracking fleet ship - a high DPS brick.
As a mission runner - a world of pain.
My first level 4 mission runner was a pulse fitted Abaddon.
Fitting is easy, Pulses, AB, a few cap. modules, heat sinks, resists and a rep.
Tachyons are a bigger weapon - youâll struggle to fit them without crippling other aspects of the hull.
So, what was the problem?
Lack of mobility and, crucially, capacitor. The Abaddon is very cap hungry - youâll be forever balancing repair and firepower usage with mobility as a last option (one Tachyons do fix, but by making everything else worse).
I spent forever just trying to close range enough I could hit targets in the falloff of long range ammo. A very slow mission by attrition.
I suspect more NPCs died of boredom than from damage.
Except for those that died of laughter.
There are alternatives:
The Apocalypse (and Apocalypse Navy Issue - the Napoc) is a good mission ship: both have served me well. Normally Pulse fitted with a MJD.
The Nightmare - fits Tachyons well, with good Caldari Battleship skills you can use mobility to reduce incoming damage. Needs good shield skills (a low priority for Amarr specialists). Expensive.
Where are you mission running? If you are around Amarr I might be able to help.
Nah, he wants to use the Abaddon because âHe likes the shipâ. Itâs okay, but it will never shine. Itâs made for heavy fleet pvp, not for solo Missionrunning.
IF using an Abaddon, Iâd probably fit it with a heavy capbooster, burn 3200er charges and save myself all the capacitor issues. Spend the freed Capslots for range+application and damage and then learn which order to shoot the NPCs so I come through the mission without running out of capsticks.
I really like Tachyon Beam Lasers. Just wanted to fit them on a ship that can tank some damage in case I make a mistake. I am a noob and dont want to loose my ship. Maybe your right and I give up on the Abaddon. Just liked the idea of having a tanky ship with huge lasers. From what I know the nightmare and Navy Apoc are fragile ships, they dont seem so beginner friendly. Let me explain, I have money from mining, I just wanted for the first time go into mission running now. I am in Amarr space.
âFragileâ is relative.
My Beam fitted Napoc is running at about 81k EHP, reps at 260 EHP/s, does 640 DPS at 40km.
Thatâs roughly double the equivalent Harbinger Navy (56k, 110/s, 600dps @ 20km).
The standard Apoc is going to be a little less, but still a lot stronger than the best Battlecruisers.
If you are going into Mission Running for the first time, Iâd recommend going for Emperor Family - mainly because standings are good for the reduction in taxes/charges on the Amarr market. I assume youâve standings for Level 4 missions? Donât try Level 1 or 2 missions in a battleship - they are full of small ships that get under your guns (particularly Tachyons) and cause you the world of grief.
Lasers are the most advanced turret weapon system available, but having several issues you need to overcome as a pilot. It is especially not good for beginners. The crux is, that you need all your armor-tanking, capacitor-, fitting- and gunnery-skills close to max. And you want to be an expert in turret-use (aka manual piloting).
Else youâll suck your own ship capacitor dry by using them and wasting a lot of shots that wonât hit because of poor tracking.
As a Beginner Amarr Battleship I can only recommend you the Armageddon, better the Armageddon Navy Issue first. Launchers do not require capacitor, neither do drones. Both hit smaller targets pretty well (use Rapid Heavy Missile Launchers for the first attempts). And you can fit the Storyline-Ballistics that boost both Missile- and Drone-Damage. You have all the capacitor of the ship for tanking and free type of damage in both systems to aim for the NPCs weak spots.
Because of the good application, you can do L3 first to learn, and L4 later, a RHML-Drone Geddon can do both equally good. If you like the ship, you can either switch to a brawling Torpedo - Heavydrone Setup or to a sniping Cruise Missiles - Sentry Setup later. both work pretty well.
Later, if you know all the missions and how to deal with each type of NPC, you can try for a Laser-Fit, but then I also would recommend Navy Apoc, Nightmare or - best PvE ship around - Paladin.
What are the best brawling Torpedo ships?
SO how do I learn how to use laser ships? Do I do lvl 3s in an omen? I thought you just stop ship at 100 km with beam lasers and shoot?
Golem obviously.
Bhargest, NavyRaven, FleetPhoon, NavyGeddon⌠they all work. It all depends on your wallet. I wouldnât suggest to fit more bling than you can easily afford. The shinier your ship, the more a gank-magnet you will become.
What about the other turrets. Hybrid and projectile? Are they as hard to learn as laser? Thanks for all the help and info so far.
Ok, that threw meâŚ
Have you run Level 1 missions (doable in Frigate - something like a Punisher) or Level 2 missions (A cruiser - Omen or Maller typically)? Get the feel for the ships and the weapon systems while you traing up the relevant skills - capacitor, armour, weapons and fitting.
Then get a Battlecruiser and hit Level 3 - that starts to show you what you are facing.
Just buying a Battleship and fitting the biggest guns is going to be a world of disillusionment and pain. Biggest isnât Best in Eve. Right tool for the right job is the approach.
Weapons:
The different weapon types, and different empire ships, feel different to use.
Lasers are a fast switching (the crystals you use govern the effective range) weapon with no ammunition worries, but are capacitor hungry and require you to watch the engagement range carefully (fight at optimal).
Projectiles are very tolerant of range, require ammunition, donât need capacitor and vary between fast firing autocannons and fire-then-get-a-coffee artillery.
Hybrids are partway between them, with a level of âreally learn about trackingâ to railguns.
Missiles are missiles (easy, target, fire and forget), Drones are like self-guided missiles that NPCs will try and kill.
If you start going down the mission path learning lasers as you go, picking up appropriate skills on the way: youâll be fine.
But for the love of pete, donât just jump in the biggest ship you can without any understanding of how to fly it.
- Level 1 The most basic type. Can be run by basic frigates. Only the most basic piloting skills are required.
- Level 2 While Mining and Courier missions may be run in frigates, Encounter is designed for cruiser hulls. You are expected to improve your abilities and learn how to fit out new ships.
- Level 3 As you specialize, you will need a battlecruiser, Mining Barge, or a medium-sized hauler. These missions go faster if you have trained for better ships and at least some Tech 2 fittings.
- Level 4 These require a battleship, an exhumer, or a large hauler. These missions can be time-consuming, but they offer large rewards. These missions require omega to run.
- Level 5 Mostly encounter (combat) missions designed for groups of players or capital ships and are exclusively located in Low Security space. Like level 4, these also require omega to run.
