The reason for the push back is because people refuse to read and, contrary to their claims, do not understand how the game works. My complaint is about the tedious method that must be used to protect an escalation, nothing more.

It’s low effort, doesn’t require much and you do it while mindlessly PVE’ing…you just can’t be asked to worry about your own safety. It’s like checking your mirrors while driving, it’s fast, easy, and second nature to good drivers, all while keeping you and your passengers safe.

What is tedious about checking your 0.5 AU probe scanner for new ship sigs and your dacan while hostiles are in your system?
You just continue doing the escalation as usual but instead of watching Netflix, chatting with your corp or browsing the forum at the side you now keep an eye on the probe scanner window for a minute until the hostiles move on.
It doesn’t even slow you down!
I’m not trying to stay alive, I’m trying to protect the escalation, this has already been explained to you many? times.
its not low effort, I get the sense you’re only saying that because it sounds low effort, not because you’ve actually done it before.
If you wish to protect something in EVE you generally need to be able to fight people for it.
Either bring a stronger ship, call corp members to help you out or have alts of your own to help you out.
Either way it’s a lot less realistic to both stay alive and ‘protect your site’ from people who may want to steal it if you are not willing to fight for it.
Luckily there are multiple things you can still do without fighting:
- dscan immune recon
- combat-scan immune fit with sensor boosters
- warp off and hide any time hostiles enter your system
Or just continue doing the site and accept that if they enter you at least kept your ship intact and outplayed the hostiles by warping off in time even if it in rare cases means losing a site.
Personally I pick the last option, but there are many other choices you can make.

“rare cases”, I think I’ve attempted ~10 of these escalations and lost 2. I guess your definition of rare is 20%. thats fine.
