I’ve made friends w/ nullsec people before, I got backstabbed. Not complaining about it, just the nature of the game. Also look at the comments these people are making, you think they wouldn’t trade their own grandmothers for 10 isk …?
What if you incentivized them not to backstab you, like you could send them 100 million isk and thank them for not shooting you?
Not sure what you mean by this, ofc no one is going to trade their grandma for 10 isk. I can only assume that you would with that cooment, in which case, go get help.
Have you actually tried this?
Yes, I find if you pay regularly and on time, most PvPers will set you blue and defend you against others.
I’ll add it to the list of ideas to explore.
I’m happy to help.
o7 capsuleer!
Why did this comment bother you so much? If you’re incapable of detecting sarcasm you should probably stay away from internet forums.
Sarcasm is hard to detect with written communications, you need to known who you are talking to to be able to convey it properly, or use a simple /s to denote it, italics, or some sort of emoting, neither of which was used.
Nerfing sister probes won’t make any difference. There is an implant set for scanning and even if they nerf it, it still needs to give some small bonus otherwise what is the point? Also, there are even better probes than sisters. So if sisters won’t be enough for them to probe you on a first attempt, then they will use the other probes and they will manage it again.
It is annoying and I gave up on doing DED5 because of this too, but this is just how it works and nothing will change that. Some ships are just too easy to probe down and even if ship is gooing to be hard to scan your drones are still a piece of cake anyway.
I can only recommend you to use quitting the game and then logging back asap and use cloak wheb someone enters local. They need quite some time to find your rough position via dscan to probe you on a first attempt (I don’t think they can get a 100% result from scanning 4AU on celestial). so they should not be able to scan you during this ~30second time window. And even if they do it won’t be the site itself, but something close to it (which won’t help them). You will land at the beginning of the site of course, but that is still better than docking and works even when there isn’t any station to dock at.
Another option is stick to one region, and take the time know your neighbourghs before doing PVE in lowsec there. Then you need to dock only when local hunters (alts) show up.
Does this even work against NPCs?
As far as I know you’ve got an NPC agression timer while you’re fighting inside the DED, which means the default 30 seconds to log out get significantly longer.
Also I haven’t tried intentionally disconnecting from an NPC fight before, but does it still warp you out as soon as it can, even while tackled by NPCs?
I heard closing the client turns off your modules, which means you may die if the NPC pressure is high.
Risky trick to use that to avoid being scouted.
Yes. It doesn’t matter if you are aggressed or not. If you quit the game, your ship will immediately start warping of to the safespot.
There is no difference between safe logout and forced quit if you don’t have any timer. And if you do have a timer, then you can’t safe logout anyway.
Of course, if you are warp disrupted or scrammed then you can’t warp away and you get stuck in the place, but that is logical.
That is also correct, but modules won’t turn off immediately. Or at least not everytime.. I often quit my account, open it again, login different toon (it is faster than safe logout) and then a minute or two later I login previous toon back. Sometimes the sensor boosters are still running. But sure, if you are under heavy pressure from NPCs and you are barely able to tank them, then perhaps this is not a good idea to perform. I did quit an NPC mission several times, and never lost my ship but I admit I was doing easier ones not some high DEDs.
Unless tackled by the npcs, you will emergency warp off.
And then sit in space, easy prey for combat probes until the timer ticks down or you log back in.
That emergency warp takes the usual align and warp time of your hull.
All active modules will shut off at the end of their cycles.
Did you read what I wrote?
Someone enters local. You are doing DED site and you don’t want this site to be probed. You don’t want to dock either, too slow or there is no station.
You quit game and you immediately boot up that account again and login back. Unless tackled by NPCs (and if you are you are not going to do this) what happens is that when you login back your ship is either:
And since the site has acceleration gates it will warp you to the beginning. (Although once when I did this it warped me back inside mission that had acceleration gates - but not always so hard to say how it works exactly). Once you land back you cloak immediately. This strategy requires cloak but it doesn’t have to be covert. I was using Improved Cloaking Device when doing DED5 in lowsec in Typhoon, OP should too.
This takes less than 30 seconds during which the ship is not gonna be on that combat site anymore. This is not enough time to probe down you down even if you actually appear at dscan from gate that the entering player came from. And even if that players somehow miraculously scan you within 30 seconds. He will most likely get a position of the emergency warp off safespot or something between that and the site.
EDIT: But ok, perhaps, just preparing a close safespot (perhaps while warping to the DED for the first time) and warping there when anyone shows up in local to cloak there would be better option. Depends if you can skip the acceleration gates when login back (which is something I am not sure how it works,)
a good combat prober can have you pinned down and punt tackle at you before you can restart your client, connect and log back in. any delays in logging back in or if you’re a little slow to x-out of the client just increase the chances they’ll catch you.
meanwhile, an MJD and not sitting right at the button you warp in at will vastly increase the chances of getting out.
speaking as one who often multiboxes a virtue buzzard and a malediction, i’d much rather catch you outside the site and not have to deal with the NPCs inside the site.
Yeah sure. I am on some DED site ´which will be 4AU of some celestial. Likely not even on a dscan from gates. And you want to tell me you can probe that guy in local who is somewhere you can’t even dscan at within 30 seconds and even land there before he warps back to the site?
I think you should start playing again and prove it.
Just to add some spice here
Sometimes when doing an escalation, leaving the escalation despawns and kills the escalation.
This happened when I got a “Contract Killers” escalation about a week ago
Wonderful logical fallacy you pulled here. Set the bar high so that it’s difficult to justify your lack of ability.
But yeah, it’s entirely possible to get a one-scan return that you can warp to with max probe skills and actual ability to probe. If you’re relying on the game to make you good, you’re never going to be.
WTF? What logical fallacy? Systems size varies, DED sites spawns in all of them. It is entirely possible to get DED site in a spot that is farther than maximum dscan range from any of the gates. It is also possible that it will spawn within. Both possibilities can happen.
I never claimed it isn’t possible. But it requires some time to triangulate the target via dscan. I don’t believe for a second that you can pull it of in a situation and timeframe I presented.
