No, it really doesn’t. If I’ve got you on a 5-degree dscan and there’s only one celestial group that way, that’s more than good enough to drop probes and nail you. You clearly have never tried to hunt someone down with probes, you don’t need to triangulate if you already know where they are. ![]()
Lmao. And you get that 5 degree dscan on celestial on a very first try. Sure. As far as I know, the DED or mission pocket is created somewhere between 2 to 4 AU from random celestial.
Even if the target is visiblle on dscan from gate, just setting 5 degree and trying celestials will not guarantee you to get him to show on any planet. Even if it did, or lets say that you enter 30 degrees that might actually work. Before you try all the planets in range, that actually takes some time. Then you need to move the probes in the Solar System Map UI onto that celestial, that takes some seconds also. I admit I never tried to scan with the absolute maximum bonus, I have perfect skills, but I don’t use implants nor the mid slots for scanning speed/pinpoint. But even if you can actually get the warpable result at the very first scan on 4 AU which I doubt, then it still doesn’t solve much. In fact the faster you are the worse.
It takes about 10 seconds for the logged out ship to warp away from the site. And then based on a hull type about 10-20 more seconds to land on the pregenerated safespot.
If you don’t manage to get 100% result in 10 seconds after you jump into system and see someone in local, then the DED or mission pocket is protected.
Now. It takes less than 30 seconds to boot up that account again and select the toon. Depends on hardware, number of clients being mulltiboxed or other programs running, but unless you are capping your CPU you can actually login back before your ship lands to that safespot.
Anyway, you probably never tried to probe someone with combat probes, because if you did then you would know that you cannot warp to the result you probed if the target isn’t there anymore. Since the ship is just flying between safespot and site, there and back, even if you get 100% result you cannot warp there. You have only two windows of opportunity - the first 10 seconds after entering local before ship warp away and ten seconds after the ship lands on that safespot and starts warping back. After the ship lands the pilot cloaks. So that won’t let you scan him.
What is the benefit of “logging out”?
-
you don’t warp away faster than with a “normal” warpout. I tested that just a few minutes ago with a freighter. If you log back in before the normal aligntime of the ship is done, the emergency warp just stops and you just stay where you are.
-
even if you delay your login a bit so you do warpout, you cannot stop the re-warp. Even if you log back in right while your ship is mid-warp to the 1 million km spot. I tested that as well. You can hammer “stop ship” as often as you want, your ship will fall out of warp, align back and immediately warp back again.
I’d never suggest to anyone trying to “log out” unless you can “safe logoff” on a safespot while constantly hitting Dscan and being aligned somewhere. Just warp out normally, make a safespot midwarp, align to somewhere and then do a “safe logoff”. If anything comes closer than 1 AU, instantly warp and make a new safespot, repeat until you can get out. Longer warps help.
Have you tried to cloak when loging back faster than the ship lands on the pregenerated safespot?
Eitther way yes you are right. It is better to create a safespot on your own prior doing the site and manually warp there to cloak there and wait it out. Quitting the game does have one advantage (other than disappearing from local which might drive off/confuse the hunters, but I suggested to log back asap so that is not going to help a lot), but it is not useful in this exact case.
Either way good luck hunting someone who warps to safe and cloaks there and perhaps uses MJD after cloaking too just in case. (We are assuming it is easy to probe slow warping ship used for lowsec PVE so it is going to be battleship.)
Well, first thing is that it’s very unlikely being probed out in a site if you warp out immediately after someone enters the local. He needs to decloak, Dscan your location at least decently, drop probes, position probes over the location he assumes you are in and complete a full scan cycle. So unless you need 10 seconds or more, he won’t get a result in the site. Maybe midwarp, but thats of no use for him. If he is a very fast prober with Implants and all that stuff, he get the site, well, thats worst case because he can finish it if he wants, but he won’t be able to tackle you. Warping there will take waaay too long.
Secondly, often it is more benefitial to either do a safelog to disappear from local, so the Hunter assumes you either have left through a Gate or a Wormhole. Or even docked and logged out, so he will not spend a lot of time to “camp you”. He doesn’t know if you will stay logged out for 10 minutes for for 2 hours and he sees that you react in time, so he knows he will probably not get you anyway.
OR
You can get a similar result by just keep warping between random safespots and random distances. Waste his time. After a short while he will realize that you know what you are doing and are just playing with him. And if he is good, he knows he won’t catch you this way. So again he will leave to not waste his time. If you are lucky, you can collect some salt from the local. -_-
Yeah I had to resort to this strategy once as I was doing DED5 in lowsec when I dropped omega and took a break from ganking. As alpha I did not have cloak so this was the only way. Annoying af to do and they did not give up, I had to do it for entire duration of logout timer and then I logged off safely. Unfortunately for me they scanned my site as I warped out only after I saw combat probes which is too late of course, the neutral alt was in system quite long.
LOL
Yes.
It’s called having your camera snap to your overview selection, and having celestials in overview to select—pretty standard SOP for anyone who does PvP.
Honestly, I stopped reading after you demonstrated to me you clearly have no clue what you’re whining about.

A site that spawns within 2 to 4 AU of a celestial most of the time won’t be within 5 degrees scan of that celestial though.
Not even snappy camera can fix that.
Depending on where you entered the system compared to that celestial it may even be on the opposite side of the celestial it spawned ‘near’.
