Yes because the instant CCP gets rid of PLEX, a massive amount of accounts will suddenly go Alpha and that would be something I’d love to see! No more PLEXing an account for anyone! The number of players would drop and the number of alts would drastically drop! I would LOVE to watch the chaos that would cause! Suddenly a multi-boxer’s account would go from free to $100 a month (or more)!
It would create a vacuum that would destroy quite a bit of the player base. And people like me who don’t play this game for 10+ hours every single day would also leave.
Statements like “CCP needs to stop selling gold” are incredibly short sighted- this game would not survive that kind of change.
Also, the number of Skill Injector sales would drop. No more easy PLEX profits to pay for them. People would have to skill up the slow way in a game that has players with a 20 year head start.

If you get rid of plex, players will still find a way to RMT anyway just like they did before plex and CCP was cut out of the profit loop. Plex is necessary.
Just like skill injectors. CCP said they would never sell skill but if I started a 20 yr old game with actually no way to every catch up to a 20 yr old vet, why bother? No matter how many ships I wanted to lose out of inexperience?

Of course you can catch up. You can only fly one ship at a time.
If the twenty year old vet flies an Ishkur for example, the newb will be caught up in a few months. If the vet flies a Nyx it will take the newb a lot longer to be of equal skills, but way short of the 20 years you hyperbolic fanatics like to rage about.
There’s no reason to sell extractors and there’s no reason to sell gold. All it does is take away the worry about having to work to get a new ship. It’s turned EVE into the MMO equivalent of COD. Ship loss means nothing. You just buy a few dollars worth of PLEX and carry on.
Selling gold destroyed the principle that the game was built on.
