Policy Update - Real Life Threats & Harassment

Online stalking the person behind the character.

Abusing the report system is bannable. Good question though. I understood that evidence from 3rd party sites can not directly result in a ban, because CCP has no way of verifying it. In-game fake evidence will be found to be fake by a look at the logs.

Yes. CCP has extensive logs about everything that is happening in the game.

They look into the logs. If a player abuses the report system, he’ll face consequences.

It begins.

by the way, years ago I ran with some roamers who delighted in “ruining someone’s day”…
giggling over someone’s grief was a big part of the fun… seemed wrong to me.

I have purposely played the game OPPOSITE to the way CCP set it up and encouraged.

No one said you have to like that. I still don’t get what you are upset about? That others gloat if they win? That you can’t verbally abuse them?

not at all…
I’m against the gloat

Well, that is just part of every game be that on the internet or in a board game with friends. Deal with it.

Being mean is not nice.

@CCP_Guard it’d be appreciated if you answered the questions here:

How many warnings until a ban?
Do they go away after a while?
If someone goes on a rant about my supposed ancestors, and I reply with a “yo mama” joke, should I be punished as harshly as he is?
Do the GMs have a hard line, or is this going to result in another case of “I said ■■■■ you in local and got perma’d” while the next dude went on a racist rant and got a warning?
Why is CCP unwilling to draw the line, despite it being how real-life law works regarding serious crimes (not thought crimes)?
Is this a result of the Fair Play Alliance, or is this a byproduct of the buyout?
Would you be able to say if this was a byproduct of the buyout?
Which dictionary or legal definitions are you using?
Does this mean you will be taking down the “HTFU” song because it is verbally abusing players?

@CCP_Falcon @CCP_Guard

I understand online stalking as within eve.
That is not ilegal and a part of the game .why is it now ilegal.
For more explain i might hunt some one in high sec and gang his ship<
I can serch via agent locator.
so is this online stalking ?

This related to above .
What is the limit and how CCP going to deal about some one lieing about the others
so they keep him isloated or dealt with as hostile …ETC

Tell them to go f*ck themselves or better yet laugh in their face about their failed attempts to provoke you into doing something stupid. Then come up with an evil masterplan of how to get proper payback.

certainly… but in my experience the Eve gloat goes way beyond decent bounds…
why cultivate such attitudes?

No they mean that you can be punished for online stalking outside of the context of EVE. For instance, let’s say your name is Paul Muller and I look you up at Facebook and start harassing you there or writing some stuff to your friends and such.

In-game stalking is not what they mean.

CCP will normally not publish details on any specific case of account action they are taking.

But rest assured, if someone repeatedly abuses the report system to accuse others of things they have not done, CCP will either start ignoring them or at some point may punish this attempted abuse of the system by a ban. Details will only be known to the person who did it and CCP.

Short cut like (sorry) “STFU” as example
how is it being dealt with ?

Just because something is not outright banned does not mean it is cultivated

Dont worry, CCP Guard will protect you. \o/

It’s okay. “Go f*ck yourself” is okay too. “You are dumber than a soft-boiled potato” is okay too.

I hope this answers your question.

FYI: that culture and attitude was cultivated by some CCP employees which think that is normal human behaviour, but now come new owners which teach them polite and cultural behavior and expect that from EVE players too.

You say that ‘hate speech’ leads to violence; as if people are mindless sheep who follow the first thing they hear and therefore ‘hate speech’ must be stopped. You don’t even define ‘hate speech’. It’s a subjective weapon with no point that you keep swinging around. In other words stop differing opinions or we’re going to be in a global bar fight. I don’t think so. It’s not giving someone else a shitty time simply because they find opinions or beliefs offensive. That’s how you got into those fights. You should have walked away before you got your black eye.

"… Tell them to go f*ck themselves " - only adds to their fun
“… or better yet laugh in their face about their failed attempts to provoke you into doing something stupid …” - don’t get that one… I try my best not to do anything too stupid.

“… come up with an evil masterplan of how to get proper payback…” - I’m not a “professional” Eve player… seems like a lot of work for a game I want to play a couple of hours a day…

EXACTLY!!!

and so F*ck those CCP emplyees. If they still around, hope new owners dump them!
