Don’t need to; a bunch of forum complaints, internal developer statistics showing that the complainers are 90% of their customer base, and a Kotaku article or two about “toxic masculinity in gaming” do the trick just fine. No need to leave your comfy gaming chair at all.

Maybe CCP does have to open a server just for them or they’re liable to CANCEL the game altogether. A few well-put Twitter posts and a word or two from INFLUENCERS and we can say goodbye to our gaming too. Then what are we gonna do…?

Of course they’re not as funny as the stuff I post on my aggrieved carebear ship-toasting alts. Got like half a dozen of them working the forums, Russian Twitter bot army-style. I’ve probably been responsible for quite a few PvP/ganking/piracy nerfs over the years just from that. I figure that if the game’s developers and community aren’t strong enough to logically defend against that, then the game doesn’t deserve to survive and function as intended.

Actually, I’m so deep in my own web of lies now, that I’m not sure which of my characters represent my agenda, and which are merely playing devil’s advocate…

I guess Toxic Masculinity has no place in a game where we’re supposed blow them the fuk up. We’re just supposed to ask if they’d like to be ganked today pretty please :roll_eyes:

You’re not supposed to ask because any desire to engage in such behaviors is a non-starter.

The goal is to remove all traces of toxic/patriarchal behaviors from existence instead of just asking for consent to engage in them.

Just look at the title for this thread. It might as well say: EVE Needs to Shut Down Permanently.

OH no, it’s not softness, they’re speaking out against some perceived patriarchy ( if there is one I sure would like to benefit from it, where’s my member card? ) and two unrelated words cleverly put together, namely Toxic and Masculinity. As if they had any clue what Masculinity actually is.
I guess playing a game as intended is toxic now :person_shrugging:

Ganking is not an issue. Please explain exactly how this is an “issue” without resorting to the same tired arguments about how it’s going to kill the game or scare away all the new players (because we’re 18 years into EVE Online now and it’s neither dead nor are all the new players chased away due to ganking).

The only solution you are going to see to “ganking” - by the standard forum definition anyway - is for everybody to stop being self absorbed boomers worrying about “muh profit” and min-maxing every two minutes and take measures to grief gankers out of the game.

Oh, not profitable? Well then, enjoy the ISK and the occasional loss of it.

There is going to be no other way.

BTW I didn’t read the OP. I have seen that thread title so many times it makes me want to give up wearing undies.

Of course there will. That’s why they’re making forum posts begging CCP to make changes. That precedent has been set a long time ago.

Where it up to me™ CCP would ignore what the players think. 99 percent of gamers lack the intelligence and experience to determine how a game should be designed and/or played.
