Which is not that different from what miner bumpers do now … appear in belt … “ask” for a permit, “or else” … followed by actions, then or later, that include ganking.
That is not true. Something I inadvertently proved to myself recently in low sec. Being in a venture helped with quick align. But, the fact they appeared red on overview - and were easier to spot as a result - is most likely what gave me the edge to bail out in time.
So, I don’t mind the OPs idea in principle, as “colored” bad guys & gals appears to work as an early alert. I just think the idea effectively already exists, in practice.
your in lowsec thats not a gank its consensual pvp. your scanning dscan continously anyhow
his trope is about highsec bears needing extra visual cues when they land. since he obviously is too clueless to set the usual suspects red, check local for red contacts, dscan, and be alert to local spikes hes going to be toast when the gank fleet arrives.
that bling marauder, exhumer, retreiver whatever is going up in smoke. and rightfully so since your clearly a moron if you get ganked in highsec with all the tools available.
That’s something completely different. Demanding a permit or… and telling someone before they get ganked are two different things.
First thing: they show a permit and they don’t get ganked ( maybe ).
Second thing: Let them know they’re about to get ganked.
My post had nothing to do with permit or…
I dont entirely agree. The ultimate outcome is the same - a ganking. All that really differs is the potential delay between announcement and actual implementation. As I said, not that different.
Okay, you can think that if it makes you happy.
I will, thanks.
You’re welcome.
Honestly I’d be willing to accept this as a ganking “nerf” if it will get carebears to quit whining.
Of course, they’ll never stop whining. “Just one more nerf and it will be balanced.”
Thanks for all the response. I always figured this would be a lively topic, but I guess as long as CCP see ganking as gameplay and not an “issue” then it will always remain in the game.
I am not a newbro but I have been a newbro. I understand player retention is difficult in Eve, I put forward this idea to possibly assist in helping everbody ,but especially those newbro’s to identify if they are about to be ganked in Hi-Sec. If you’re AFK then so be it. If you’re flying your ship then this could give you a few extra seconds to hear those immortal words “warp drive active”
Thanks again for the replies, its been interesting to see the different styles of response considering this is my first ever post.
As long as you consider ganking as an issue, you are still a newbro.
Ganking is a solution, not an issue, in the game design. A solution to inflation and meaningless farm.
There are plenty of times in game I don’t want to be attacked, but I accept the possibility it could happen.
In those moments, my pvp role is avoidance. Being careful and hard to catch is part of pvp too.
PvP isn’t just blowing stuff up.
This guy gets it
PvP is like war. In battle, you don’t just shoot, you avoid getting shot at as well.
One person. Two personalities:
You should give yourself a stern talking to.
that’s called nuances. You’ll learn about it one day.
It never died. As long as single-player PvE-centric gamers download EVE expecting to be able to play unmolested there will be threads like this one.
As I said, CCP ought to add a byline under the title of the game.
EVE Online: You Will Die Again & Again & Again
Podding in LowSec.
No. My UI settings are my business, not yours.
You already have plenty of time if you’re watching DScan. You don’t need more.
Why are NPCs on your PvP tab?
Think about what you’re saying. They have to grind back security status. How is this a problem?
Yeah, it’s pretty much a meme now.
