Prison for captured pirates

Why not just send pirates to prison. The prison scene contains scenes of prisoners held in a prison cell. They could sit on a timer and get back some security status. Turn in tags to get your security status back. These highsec pirates will be captured and sent to lowsec prison.

I propose we implement a mechanic where miners who are caught without a valid permit get sent to prison.

Miners in HS should be hunted down by the NPC police for stealing from the empires. Disgusting!

I used to play a MUD which had a prison, but it had a prison break mechanic, and once you knew how that worked, so you could escape, it kinda stopped working.

I can’t see how to avoid that.

If you have an inescapable prison you’re just stopping people playing for doing some “wrong” in game which makes no commercial sense, if it’s escapable then it becomes like the current tag system, a small speed bump which can be easily surmounted with some ISK and time.

The ways you can punish players for playing the game are limited to things which don’t prevent them from continuing to play the game, so can never be more consequential than what we have.

  1. The Space Jail: When rule-breakers (such as botters or those violating local Terms of Service) are caught, their characters are sent to a restricted, isolated area of space often referred to as a virtual prison.
  2. Breaking Stones in Space: To regain their freedom, players are forced to perform penal labor. They must mine a specific type of useless prison ore that serves no practical purpose in the game’s economy.
  3. Earning Freedom: Players cannot escape or interact with the rest of the game world until they have manually mined a designated quota of this ore, essentially forcing them to rehabilitate their account through hard labor.

This is Serenity’s version of prison. Maybe FC could implement it here.

So how long are you imaging they’ll need to play the new mini-game before freedom?

Will there be any way(s) of bypassing or speeding up the process?

Will the mini game actually be complicated enough that it can’t be botted?

The answers to these questions will determine if it works.

How long should this be?

You know that compared to that, a new account with chars made gank ready can be done in under 30 minutes with only one skill injector required, right?

Is there a howto or a youtube tutorial somewhere for that?

Somewhat but very old here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/uki31/100_kills_on_a_month_old_character_a_catalyst/

T1 should be very fast, and need about 500k skillpoints.

Maybe here as well:

I am sure someone has better links.

Please don’t send me to lowsec!!!

That sounds awful.

Is botting and TOS breaking just part of the regular gameplay loop on Serenity that people get sent to a game prison they can get out of instead of, say, get banned?

The same about exploration… this should be punished by police!

Should there be a prison for CONCORD? They are selling Security Status for isks&tags. Need to remove that corrupted organization.

Who would take on CONCORD though?

Also, what is corrupt about it?

CONCORD just has more priorities than some people think.

CONCORD may want to keep illegal capsuleer versus capsuleer combat in high security space to a minimum with overwhelming force, but CONCORD also wants to use capsuleer firepower to deal with the non-capsuleer pirates everywhere in and out of HS space.

In order to accomplish both these goals CONCORD tries to find a balance by rewarding capsuleers who bring in pirate tags and destroy pirates, and by punishing capsuleers who disturb the HS peace both on the same scale of security status.

This means that the very same capsuleers who disturb the HS peace can compensate for this behaviour by also working for CONCORD by killing pirates and turning in tags to recover security status.

After all, protecting your mining ship isn’t the only thing CONCORD cares about.

Calm down miner, I have no mining ships but I see why you do not want to get rid of CONCORD as it gives you a bit of safety in high sec. Sad, but it would be nice to call a Month Without CONCORD.

i’ve done some research on that since then. TianCity the former publisher, almost implimented this, it never did leave the test server.

Suing for Illegitimate Property Seizure: Where the law does protect players is the protection of their economic stake. If a publisher arbitrarily bans an account without concrete proof, shuts down a game unfairly, or freezes valuable assets (like rare skins or digital items) without proper justification, players have the legal standing to sue to recover the financial value of those digital assets. That was one thing that almost put TianCity under was when they were doing this i believe in 2018

So NetEase also cannot just ban a player like FC, they must have concrete proof that someone cheated or the like to receive a ban. devs in china cannot fall back on a EULA, as its weaker than statutory laws.
FC can cause EULA overrides icelandic laws or statutory laws..

because netease/tiancity couldn’t ban RMT or botters, it led the game having a Blue Donut where nobody ever fought against each other due to Pan-Intergalactic Business Community and no PVP essentially took place.

Thats where Frat came in to play. They wanted meaningful PVP’ that couldn’t happen on serenity so they broke through to come here.

Interesting, so that bad idea was a compromise made because of a local law that made banning cheaters impossible in many cases.

I guess it then it makes more sense, but it still is a bad idea that wouldn’t make sense on the main server.

i mean i would take that over someone just getting slapped on the wrist coughlorucough

I mean we all agree Loru should be punished for his blatant RMT (ideally by a permaban like every other RMT seller). That’s not really in question. The question here was, should CCP punish botters and RMTers by locking the account until the player spends x hours mining, which obviously makes no sense because they’d just turn the bot back on and get out of “prison” while they’re at work.
