Product Stability Feels Worse Than Ever

I was booting up my clients today and I swear it took me almost 20 minutes just to log in on my main PC. It’s a top end rig, at least a 5 thousand dollar tower. There’s no reason for this, I figure it’s rough code.

I’m seeing what feels like more in product crashes lately, out of product launcher crashes, and when launching the game sometimes clients will just launch black screen and stay black screen until I relaunch it again. Sometimes the launch button straight up breaks and your just slapping the launcher, cancelling, restarting, entirely closing, opening again. It will freeze. I have 6 actively subscripted accounts and seemingly paying you guys a base rate of usually at least 60 dollars a month to play this game.

Can your product team get it together and form a business case to financially support fixing the game and/or giving us a 2.0 backend code? The random crappy aps, blockchain memes, and other random spinoffs aren’t helping your core base.

This feels so silly after 21 years.

I’m running 5 accounts on an 8-year-old PC with less than half the specs of yours just fine…

QuakeGod What windows version? I’m guessing 10 since its 8 years old and not Win 11 compatible. so you might want to add that bit of information. Devero Mire Windows 11 24h2 is causing issues is my guess and what I have been seeing all over the forums with multi client players.

Windows 10
GTX 1060 3GB
16 GB RAM

Five clients, zero issues.

well, we cancelled a roam yesterday after for some people severe lagspikes (randomly while traveling or jumping a gate) or overview freezes appeared. We lost a guy that was dead and back in Jita even without seeing the system on the other side of the gate he jumped. I couldn’t target a ship the FC called because it wasn’t simply visible in my overview. And a whole fleet appeared out of nothing for me, while some others in the fleet said they saw it 20 seconds earlier.

Thats not ideal for going into any kind of engagement… to say it friendly.

Your lucky, Stick with windows 10. Windows 11 24h2 and Eve absolutely don’t like each other!

I have also been experiencing this lately as well. Jump gate and it takes about 5 seconds to be able to have a keystroke register. And it seems laggy and studdering for 10 sec or so after.

Had 6 clients on and ratting, each screen had rats showing up at different times. One client had none on screen for a few minutes, decided I didn’t want to run into a npc dread so shut it down.

I will say that my 10 year old laptop runs the game even dual boxing just fine compared to the brand new computer. The old code seems to struggle with modern tech.

new rig: windows 11, i9-19000k, 65gig ram, DX 12, still use an older 3090 water cooled GPU because it’s tons, and I have a 49 inch curved monitor on the main.

Exaclty I have an old laptop and another desktop both run flawlessly. well as flawless as you can get with Eve anyway lol
Guaranteed its not your rig!! I have a support ticket in but it seems its at a stand still as I can’t get crash dump information from my freeze crashing and hard resets. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch it soon.

For starters, disable DirectX 12 and enable DirectX 11. That fixes a lot of problems right there.

Trust me sir, I have done all that plus replaced my components in my cpu with back up.

If you have played eve long enough you always do those lil things.

Runs fine on my Macs. :man_shrugging:

If the problem is Windows 11 24H2 (and it probably is), then complain to Microsoft, not to CCP—or any of the other game companies also affected.

Used to run fine on my Mac, but performance has been going steadily downhill for the past 6 months. At least a 25-35% hit. I had to reduce the window size on my main by 40% after they introduced the new volumetrics.

Which hardware? I haven’t seen any difference on either my Macbook Air M2 or my Mac Studio M1 Max. And I always update to the latest Macos release within a week at most.

Admittedly it’s an older system, but prior to Equinox I was able to run 3 clients at >30 fps. Now I can barely run a single client at ~25 fps. I’ve even downgraded some of the graphic settings just to achieve that.

Nothing has changed on my end - it’s all with the EVE client.

Apple Silicon or Intel?

Intel.

I see.

The stability has indeed deteriorated a lot in recent months. Despite CCP’s claims about improving their tech, I’ve had more crashes in the last week than in the last quarter of 24, chats keep disconnecting and reconnecting, the startup after DT is as shaky or worse than ever, markets in specific areas are client freezingly bad, modules don’t respond after things like decloaking and you never know if a module activation went through or was lost in transmission.

Incidentally, their efforts to bring EVE into the modern coding era is responsible for all these issues.
