I enjoy plenty of other games that have balance patches several times a year. If a dominant strategy is found which reduces the depth of the game by making other options obsolete, then the game should be adjusted so that more viable options are available. I think this approach gives the players more freedom to determine how they want to play the game instead of being forced to pick an option which someone else already determined is superior. But hey, it’s okay for us to disagree on this point. I don’t mind you having a different opinion. Just don’t pretend like you can speak for me, okay?
Okay, I will try it one more time before I write you off for good.
This isn’t really true statement. Yes you can’t lock&catch tethered ships, but there are ways to intercept them. I have lost ships to AG while tethered while I was scanning targets cargo. The answer is bumping. I heard they nerfed it somehow since last time I played but that used to be one way. Another way is to wardec and destroy their structure. I agree that, the way it is now there is no point and probably no chance to win against CODE backed up with nullsec, but you can do it to the smaller fishes. I did got wardecced back then and even though I didn’t lost the citadel, at the very least they forced me to interact with them, and they have killed my ships because suddenly those kill rights that I had accumulated were meaningful. Isn’t this exactly what you are asking for all that time? Yet the answer was already there.
Still, I agree that the way how it works now, it is just pointless. But imagine now that my suggestion to prevent criminals to enter stations (and I expand that idea - it should be disallowed based on security status of a person and sector they are), suddenly citadels are MUST to use to gank in highsec (I would probably stage from Kubinen, but that would make me susceptible to AG on the other side of the gate) not just for CODE who is using them already but all smaller fishes. Now, they don’t have to use their own citadels, but if they don’t you can manipulate tether rights if you talk to owner. You could even make the docking right removed while they are tethered there - I wonder what would happen, would there still be invulnerability timer?
That would give you exactly what you claim you want, more interaction with gankers. Hell, if npcs stations cannot be used then it would be worthwhile to try and assemble and AG alliance and wage a war against CODE.
And yet you can already do that now if you really wanted. It just wouldn’t result in much anyway since stations can be used right now.
You need to relax on this, what I took umbrage with is your final statement, let me detail it again:
In reply to this point:
It was very specific to freighter ganking and massed catalyst fleets and you hit me with that general statement which I never said.
Back to being sensible, sort of…
Seriously, so go try to bump the catalyst that is set to go to a spot and the rest are orbiting it really in close to the structure and then tell me how you get on?
I have bumped gankers out of tether, and that example I give you is how they operate in the main, you do get the odd dumb one that is tethered on the outer ring that you can get but most are in deep.
Already done that, who do you think removed all the gate perches in Uedama? And for your information that Fortizar in Uedama is actually protected by the Goons. As it is a Miniluv alliance, did you not know that?
Now this we agree on, and this is why I want CCP to make those consequences and then we will have classic Eve play.
Wow very well said. But why do these players don’t understand and they ragequit my server in response to such patch?
Players these days are so weak…
Hmm fair enough it is true that after I lost that ship and it was catalyst btw I made them orbit and that prevented furrther losses due to the bumping. So I guess this advice is really useless as it works just once against those who are new to this.
Yes I know CODE=goons which is why I said it is probably not possible and they have nullsec backing. Although it seems that goons are on a demise, I even found and suicide ganked few of their biomassed chars capsules they left flying in highsec. Unfortunately they drop no implants
BTW good job removing the citadels in Sivala then, that makes ganking much much annoying there to the point I abandoned it
One more thing. So if you did that, then you had that interaction with gankers you are always seeking didn’t you? Are there no more gankers using citadels in highsec except of CODE? If there are that is the content you want isn’t it? So where is problem.
And to be honest, the fact that AG can’t take down CODE citadels because their are too strong due to their nullsec backing is completely normal and within game design. The strongest dog fucks. It has always been like this and while it is killing an interaction because there is no point trying it, I believe this is absolutely intented by CCP. The only counterplay is to get more peoples than they have which is not going to happen obviously, but game allows it so it is players fault not a game design issue.
Who said it was CODE? The Fortizar in Uedama is not owned by CODE but Miniluv, the hisec arm of the Goons. We have already blown up a CODE Fortizar.
Didn’t CODE. disband years ago?
I didn’t kow that, it has been a while since I played. At any rate that doesn’t really change my point.
I heard that James315 died under mysterious circumstances, and he left everything to his mistress.
And then all the CODE sycophants that refused to acknowledge and come under the regime change all mysteriously disappeared and/or commited suicide.
So all that is left of CODE is the decree of conduct that is now in the loving care and enforced by SAFTEY.
Wow, it sounds like she murdered him and then systematically slaughtered everyone who objected. Imagine, what kind of person could do such a thing? It’s got to be at least three people, according to my friend Dracvlad, who is very knowledgeable and well-informed.
Furiously clicks the “do you want to know more” button.
@Dracvlad Please, do tell. Which three people? Inquiring minds want to know!
wow, everything on this post is wrong
You have the coolest friends!
That’s a strange thing to say , did you forget what alt you are using
I love how they tether all day long at these stations and then deny any ownership if they go pop haha.
It’s a bit like when we kill a looting freighter they say oh it’s not ours
Nonsense. I correctly pointed out that your were ‘fixing’ a non-existent problem. The avoidance of ganking is primarily in the hands of players themselves and has absolutely nothing to do with ‘balance’ or tweaking this or that ammo. If a person has reached a point where the ammo being fired at them makes a difference…they’ve clearly already ignored every single personal behaviour that could have avoided a bunch of Catalysts even getting that close in the first place.
I think I found at least one source of the misinformation around ganking in Eve. The YouTube algorithm recommended me a video by the “Eve Online Tutorial” and it turns out the guy running it is quitting Eve and spreading the typical “all ganking is griefing” and “CCP needs to address it” vagueness – to his credit, there are more reasonable points about the lack of content for 1.5 years. But he makes the typical mistake of “newbro in a Marauder” kind of statements. That’s a content creator out of touch with the game. With a channel targeting new players.
We get some ridiculous proposals on the forums, but this guy also made a whole video on his preferred proposal (TL;DR a PVE-only server). As long as Eve Online has content creators that bring this sort of silly mentality we’re going to continue suffering it on the forums.
This makes me want to learn video editing skills to turn my recordings of my bad PvP into something that is neither mining nor whining.
I can try to help you if you want to learn. I mean, I’m a terrible youtuber, but I can help you learn video editing (it’s not hard, btw).
Also, can you link that video. i’d love to check it out.

Whenever I have the time I may send you an Eve Mail about the video editing stuff.
I like clear skies… okay!
