Proposal for Rebalancing of the Suicide Gank

No; that is not a fact.

That’s called ignorance!

Huh.

So the solution is to cry to daddy CCP?

Instead of engaging in the player driven universe and using solutions in game?

Wild

But you yourself said we are in a player driven universe. Why would we go outside the game for this help when we have all the tools we need?

Curious

And as you said, ganking isn’t a problem for veterans

So why not share some of those tips so nublets can find it?

I would say you’ve provided a lot of discourse on why daddy CCP actually doesn’t have to get involved as there are clearly enough in game tools to deal with it

So why not drop the strategies you use?

You’ve said it isn’t a problem for you. Why gatekeep from the nublets?

You said you don’t want them harmed, why not give them the tools to keep themselves alive?

  1. Learn to use dscan, keep the dscan window open at all times e.g., stack in the chat channel window
  2. Get a good overview, learn to interpret it, what colors and icons mean
  3. Understand the rules of engagement, see Crimewatch
  4. Check EVE - Check before you jump!
  5. Unstack Local chat, narrow Local text column, switch off portraits via the cog wheel, and “show compact member list”
  6. if in doubt or taking big risks, scout with a rookie ship or shuttle before you move stuff
  7. always doublecheck on the F10 map for recent kills, recent jumps, pilots in space, pilots docked
  8. when caught (bubble, disrupter, scrambler) as you pass through a gate: BURN back to the gate and try to jump out
  9. watch ccp aurora’s videos on gate camps and bubbling, learn what “bouncing” means in dangerous space.
  10. get a cloak, learn the mwd/cloak trick
  11. fit for <2 sec alignment
  12. Never panic. Use your grace period (the “gate cloak”) to get your bearings, and start planning to push the right buttons and pick the right course.

Congratulations ! You’ve become an adequate EvE pilot who can avoid 95% of the ganks in any type of space.

Yes all very good counterplay to ganking and PvP in general.

I use them daily

no counterplay = no play

Huh. So you refuse to give them the tools they need to keep themselves alive, although you do acknowledge the tools are already in game.

Share the ship fits then

How do you know they don’t come? There’s been a noob posting about gas all day that I’ve been helping

This post doesn’t make sense, as people have already shared tools.

So noobs become veteran players because gankers stop targeting them? When does that happen? How does that happen?

My favorite point.

Not all HS systems have a ganker presence. Find these systems are your pretty much cloaked from nearly all threats.

Awesome point. Great interpersonal skills needed for this. Only the locals know about how much ganker activity a system gets.

One upvote for the lil Wayne reference

Very true!

Thank quafe someone spotted it.

I mainly threw it in there to confuse the boomer

He’s gonna be 40 in like 2 weeks. I don’t think he’s the shoutout to the youth we think we is. I think we are basically video game boomers.

This is a really good post, Gix. Helpful, informative and allows new players to interact more with the core mechanic of the game as well as learning to how interact with their potential gankee.

Sad that some people want to kill player/player interactions but that’s really their own personal problem. Shame they have to push that on the rest of us.

For the sheer amount of repetition of some posters, it could be argued that it’s basically one player posting on different acct’s arguing from different points of view.

I’m all about helping the nubs understand the game they chose to play and that it is an open world PvP game where they consent to PvP as soon as they undock

You mean one person using multiple sock puppets? Nooooo. No one would ever do that….

I’m pretty convinced that at least 3 posters are the same person and they switch back and forth when the heat on one gets too high.
