I got sick over the years answering the same questions, telling the same stories over and over again…
For newbs or noobs, best advice i can give:
Is actually go suicide ganking for a few weeks…things you will learn:
1.) How to fit and tank cheaply to avoid those profit seeking gankers.
2.) How to recognize a possible gank scout.
3.) How Industry is used to maintain gank forces up to 10x cheaper than market.
4.) Gain a better understanding on the economic relationships between Market, Industry, and Combat PvP.
5.) Learn to become a better EvE player in general.
6.) Learn and understand why people like Lucas Kell is simply trying to destroy the game completely and keeps being treated as an outsider.

Including mining in a fleet, as part of a corp that has good intel. Not only will a fleet be able to provide large numbers of drones for defence, but corp intel ( which I often provide myself, for our miners ) will often let miners know of gankers coming from several systems away.
Mining in a fleet can also provide the added benefit of mining boosts, which means in a Venture you can be mining 25% or so faster !

Of course some ships get ganked less that others. I’ll give you a hint…that’s because there are less of them ! But that’s simply not the same as ships gankers ‘generally don’t shoot’.

I have one suggestion for avoiding being ganked that has worked pretty well for me:
Take a turn as the ganker.
Seriously. Figure out which targets you don’t like and then, when you don’t want to play the pirate be one of those targets. Also, and I suspect this is among the reasons it is not a problem for many experienced players, if you are a part of a ganking community you can greatly improve the odds that your own stuff is not targeted.
So you can’t provide a list of ships that ‘gankers generally don’t shoot’.
Oh…and do stop being jealous that this ‘rookie’ has destroyed 85bn in 6 months compared with your 50bn in 10 years.
He won’t share them cause he doesn’t care about the nubs

I have an alt I’ve just trained up for that. Finally has T2 Catalyst…which I’d need going solo. And it’s not as easy as Lucas and others make out…certainly not when setting out as a solo ganker. I have to get within warp scram range ( 7500m ) and even more so get within DPS range. This is precisely why I myself got 2 kill rights against failed ( relatively new ) solo gankers.
I think the Catalyst might fit the 24km warp scram…will have to check and see.
Thanks for starting the thread. To add more constructive, topical advice:
- When moving an expensive ship hull that is blinged out, via piloting it: instead strip the expensive mods off first and fit the hull for tank. Move the expensive
later in a separate trip. - Consider selling loot in hubs other than Jita. Consider any price differences as a premium to avoid the crowd.
- Bookmarks: learn how to use them, and when they’ve been burned.
- Higgs rigs & alignment mechanics: learn how to fly with one properly.
- Industrial cores: just because you can press a “maximize greed but root yourself in a vulnerable location” button, doesn’t mean you should.

Not really? What excuse the truth? I’ll gank again in the future for lulz. As I spent this weekend organizing stuff and flying it around the galaxy as the assets page had gotten a bit too crazy.
Again, due to my single char/account usage I can’t gank for profit unless with a group.
