PvE only systems shouldn't be a thing, but --

Could say the same for you my guy

Oh so you admit you’re playing a game whose rules you can’t handle, so you’ll cry to the devs to change it.

Thankee

Oh and you do? Drop the credentials my guy

Citation needed. @Brisc_Rubal , would you care to comment on this since this dude is speaking for ya’ll

I just know you had a gnome

Considering the first true MMO was UO and that’s what EVE basically took it’s tenets from, yes.

Also UO is a perfect example of what happens when it goes the way Grampy wants

They made the changes Grampy wants and it tanked the game.

You are correct sir.

Oh. So no other MMOs really.

Shocker

He’s obsessed with BR’s

Ah, that would be why the player count is at 18,000 on a Friday night despite the nerfs to ganking.

What you fail to grasp is that more people get cheesed off with the goal posts being moved every 5 minutes than the noobs who leave. And turning Eve into ‘just another’ generic MMO gives nobody any special reason to go for it over and above all the other generic MMOs. Trying to appeal to a wider audience can backfire spectacularly…as the core player base who joined because it had its niche qualities leave, and the noobs one hopes to attract are already playing all the other popular MMOs.

We’ve all met the sort who bluster their way through being right about absolutely everything under the sun. It’s as if their entire world would unravel if they ever once admitted being even the tiniest bit wrong about anything.

Well he’s already admitted to not playing a lot of MMOs and admitted to not being able to handle EVE in it’s current form.

I’ve played almost every MMO there is. MMOs tank when they stray from their core gameplay.

SWG being another prime example. They tried to revamp the game and ended up destroying it instead because it got away from what made it successful in the first place.

Trying to make a game accord with what most MMO players want is not a solution in itself, because most MMO players will already be playing what they want…which is precisely where one got the figures from for what most MMO players want…lol. Its a catch 22 situation, because a generic game gives nothing that stands out as a reason to play it. If you make Eve like Game X…why would everyone leave Game X and flock to Eve ?

Games stand out either because they are different, or better, or preferably both…not because they’ve become clones of every other game out there.

The same place as yours.

Oh but it is precisely what you are calling for…the dumbing down of Eve to cater for the carebears. And once again you speak with forked tongue, because ‘making Eve more appealing’ is precisely that aspect of making it more generic…the two are the same thing as it is the generic aspect that provides the gaming data in the first place that says it is more appealing. You just blurt out stuff with total disregard for whether you are contradicting something you yourself said only half a dozen posts ago !

This is why I am fed up ‘discussing’ anything with you. You slither this way and that, so eager to shoot everyone else down that the end result is you contradicting yourself a dozen times a day.

He wants it for himself.

He can’t handle the game. He’s admitted that already.

He just wants to be able to AFK thru high sec

How the hell else can one define ‘more appealing’ ?? The only way one knows what is ‘appealing’ is by reference to other games and their appeal ‘within the wide MMO market’…to quote your own phrase. Thus, by definition, if a whole bunch of other games are ‘more appealing’ then making the game more like them is the only factor that gives that ‘appeal’.

Sheesh…why does everything have to be so damned contrarian with you ? It is precisely how you end up contradicting yourself all the time, because someone else said something that was right…and you can’t have others ever being right, so you end up contradicting your own prior statements in order to assert others are wrong. Frankly I have absolutely had enough of this. You are simply not worth bothering with. I am finally taking the advice of others…

I no longer care. Lucas now consists solely of ‘View 1 hidden reply’.

Ahh. Projecting huh?

He’s not really wrong. It’s a miniscule part of the folks who play EVE long-term who do it for the PvE. Some CSM members have been more PvE oriented than others - I’ve advocated it, but only because I know there are plenty of people who do missions and abyssals, even though I don’t particularly care for that kind of gameplay. But overall, at least in the modern CSM era, it’s rare to see a PvEer get elected, because those folks don’t tend to really play the game with large groups of people.

Exactly my point.

Historical data for his changes is already out there.

He’s just gotta witness UO

i remember this, lets call it romantic phase
but wen people start to be dishonorable the best bet for the victim was not to pay
that put some stress on the system

“PvE only systems shouldn’t be a thing, there is no but.”

Fixed the topic title for you.

Finally:) Now maybe we can get a little peace in the forums. I think you and Gix were the last holdouts still talking to him. I’m sure he’ll be along to flag this post momentarily, but that’s ok, I’m just glad you finally did it. Now just look around, take a deep breath, and go back to enjoying this great game with out the hassle of listening to “Nope” over and over.

I never block anyone sadly

The last mohykane.

The problem is those who treat PvE almost as if they were playing a single player game, and thus don’t want any ‘interference’ from other players. Which would be a legitimate call if they were playing a single player game…but they are playing a multiplayer game where by definition the whole idea is to interact with other people. The whole notion of ‘leave me alone…I’m doing PvE’ is absurd in an MMO, yet it is the entire basis of much of the player complaints.

I’d wager that 80% of the people playing today fit into that group. They are “the silent majority”. I can only hope that one day they will unite and bring positive changes to the game. Most don’t even vote for ths CSM as they fail to see any reason to. But, the day will come. Let people play PvE if they want, or they’ll grind you into bits.
